My Other Life!

Hello friends,
Today I thought I would share with you my London working life -
it is a complete contrast to my crafting life!
I snapped all these photos on my phone yesterday morning at around 8am.  Shortly afterwards the church bells rang out to mark the Olympics and the volume was amazing!
This blue building is where I work, behind Aldgate tube station.
It's a law firm and I've been there nearly 15 years although we only moved to this building last year.
This is the bank of lifts - I'm on the 12th floor!
This is a central walkway, the rather unusual sculpture has just been installed, we have lots of  interesting features like this around the firm - some are actually nice!
The kitchen area for the desperately needed coffee -
that machine actually makes really good Cappuccino!  Not tea though..avoid machine tea at all costs!
And this is me..my workstation, looks somewhat bare doesn't it - note the healthy apple...
(I moved the Bounty bar out of the way before I took the picture!)
The tub of green spiky plants irritates me a little,
I've threatened to die cut some flowers and stick them on!
And because this is London and I'm on the 12th floor if I move to a window I get a fabulous view.
The strange wooden structure on stilt legs appeared last week - it's clever but I'm puzzled by it!
Note Tower Bridge in the background shrouded in rain and mist - well it is Summer!
Just a little insight into my other life.
Back tomorrow with something crafty!
Take care friends.

What a contrast! I prefer your crafting life far from the rat race!

Hi Christine, I bet you really want to decorate your workplace with some craft pieces. How stark compared to how I imagine your studio looking, but pennies have to be earned.

Thanks for this Christine. Takes me back. You get some of the best views of the City from up high and first thing in the morning (if you have five seconds to stop and take it in!!!) Hugs, Buttons x

Hi Christine
lovely pics of your work place. I can see what you mean about the plant. Definitely needs some flowers. Or even butterflies attached. LOL. The view is amazing too.
Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Morning Christine, What fantastic pictures you have given us today. Your workplace looks really 'futuristic', would hate working on the 12th floor (I'm claustrophobic in lifts, so walk if I can), but the View really compensates for that, what a view, fantastic. I would still prefer your 'other life' though, your studio is STUNNING. Have a lovely weekend. Lots of love from Patricia xx

Hi Christine, Good to see your other life, we all have them, your workspace looks a birt like mine, but with a better view ! My view's a cake factory !. My kit arrived yesterday, hopefully will make it up today, in between moving my son and daughter in law and watching the olympics. Lynn xx

Aah the memories come flooding back, I used to work for a Commission in Manchester but spent most of my time in the London office but I stayed at a hotel overlooking Tower Bridge and I loved it (not the job, the hotel -lol). I don't envy you travelling to London for the next few weeks though.......taking OH to London as a surprise birthday present but not til after the Olympics! Crafty hugs, Anne x

Wow Christine - your office looks so immaculate and new. You can almost smell the newness! That view over London is gorgeous. See what you mean about the 'Mother in Law's tongue' plant in the corner -definitely needs something lol!!!

Great pics.

hi christine, what a fabulous building to work in, and the view you get is stunning. I am very impressed with your very tidy work station. I wouldn't dare take a photo of my desk at work, it always looks like a hurricane has just happened!!

have a good weekend everyone

Nice to see the "other you". I bet you would rather be in that beautiful new studio though ALL THE TIME. I used to work in London many moons ago but now I find it all a bit too busy & only go in to go to the theatre occasionally, funny how things are so different as you get older. Interesting pictures though, thanks for showing us.

Wow what a contrast Christine. It looks amazing, the building and the view. I would love to work in a building like that rather than the old tatty run down one I am in at the mo. I LOVE new things. Thanks for sharing your other life with us.
Have a lovely Saturday night everyone.

Hi Christine,
What fab pics, thank you for sharing a bit more of your life with us, such fun.
Hope you are feeling better today and nothing more has taken hold. Take care dear lady. I am only just getting over my chest infection (only 3weeks of it)

What a fabulous place to work, your office desk is so neat! I used to live and work in the West End of London and loved it. One of the offices I worked in for a while in the early seventies looked straight out over Carnaby Street - very cool xx
