Friday Chat Day

 Hello friends

Happy Friday, hope you are all well.

I've reached the end of my working week, cor blimey it has been a bit full on.
I think I am getting to grips with things.
This new role is like starting a whole new job but I'm thankful I
know most of the people, although I only see them virtually.
The plan is that we will need to start going back into the office in September,
perhaps 2-3 days a week. Personally I would love to remain at home.
What I have realised is that...
weekends suddenly feel very precious indeed.

Monday marked the first day of summer, hard to believe with all the rain we've had.
On that day, I took this photo of my soggy rose.
Despite the weather, isn't it the most loveliest pink.

Look at that grey sky and oh yes, that's Darcy our one eyed cat watching
me take photos - she's no help at all.

Do you recall my baby Christmas tree?
It is working so hard on growing.
It may warrant some lights at Christmas.

Crochet:

I finished my Hello Winter Blanket, don't be fooled into thinking I did this in
one week since finishing Hello Autumn last week!
I had nearly all the squares ready to go, they just needed joining.

I love this colourway, someone on Instagram said it is very Nordic looking,
I agree.

I put it over the end of my bed and thought ...I want to keep this one.

By way of a compromise (depleting the blanket build up)
I have listed another much larger blanket for
sale in my Folksy shop - the Meadow one finished earlier this year.

I am working on my last two WIPs and then I can start something new - hurrah!

Telly:

Not a lot of viewing this week but I did catch a film on Netflix.

Highwaymen
Two former Texas Rangers are tasked with tracking and killing
the infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde

Starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson.
Oh it is a far cry from their younger days..
The Bodyguard and Cheers!
They both look aged and haggard but I'm guessing (for their sake)
some of that is essential to the roles they are playing.
There's a lot of moody southern drawl mumbling going on
but if you can decipher that, it is worth a watch.

Back
Episodes available on All 4 and Britbox

Comedy starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb.
A son prepares to take over the family business after his dad's death,
but on the day of the funeral there's an unexpected mourner at the graveside.

This was a pleasant surprise, it's light hearted with great performances.
I wouldn't say laugh out loud but an occasional chuckle.
Perfect viewing whilst cooking dinner.

Other stuff:

Bella is 10!
We had a lovely barbecue at my parents' home for Father's Day
with Bella's birthday gategrashing that event.
Here she is unwrapping one of her gifts.

And a rather unusual gift which she loves!

This weekend - trip to the tip!
Can I contain the excitement?
It is essential, the surveyor came to look at my conservatory roof
so the emptying of the conservatory is commencing -
a bit too slowly to be honest.

I also plan to see Elliott, visit my parents and my sister -
a social whirl!

I hope you all have something nice planned for the weekend.
Take care friends and thank you for stopping by.

Morning Christine, such a shame you won't be at home working everyday and will have to endure the dreaded commute. Gorgeous rose, I have a Peony that has flowered for the first time and it is a very similar colour, sadly I didn't get a photo before the wind and rain got to it, but I have next year. Your Christmas tree is looking fabulous, maybe some summer light for the evening will give it an all year purpose. Wow gorgeous blanket you really are cracking on with your WIP. Happy Birthday Bella, she looks like she is enjoying the present opening. Have a great weekend with your family, hope the tip trip isn't too taxing. Enjoy your week stay safe xx

Great catch up on all your news. The weekends are precious when you work full time, not enough time to do everything unfortunately. Lovely photo of Bella, can’t believe she’s 10.

Great catchup
I am so grateful that I still work part time but I do know what it feels like working for a different team Quite stressful
The only tele I have been really looking forward to (although it’s on most of the afternoon and evening) is The Handmaids Tale Very brutal but so so gripping I have to record it and watch it on an afternoon so that I don’t have nightmares hee hee!
I love the colour combination of your latest blanket No wonder you’re going to keep it and why not you’ve made it you’ve earned it
Take care

Hi Christine, good to read you are keeping busy!! Your pink rose is a lovely colour and often the dull light really makes colours shine. As for colours your winter blanket is super. I find nowadays I am invariably putting on the subtitles as I can't understand what folk are saying. Clear enunciation seems to be a thing of the past for some actors. Have a good weekend xx

Always good to read your news on a Friday. Something to look forward to. Done quite a bit of crocheting this week. The small blanket is nearly finished. Not sure when I will finish the large one. I love your latest blanket and I can understand you wanting to keep it. Why not you have made it. Love your pink rose. I always like pink roses. Don’t watch a lot of television these days.
