Friday Chat Day

Hello friends

Have you all melted?
We've had some seriously high temperatures and I am so glad the
cooler weather has arrived.  I don't mind admitting I'm grumpy when it
is that hot and stay indoors in a darkened room!
The heatwave did enable me to finish my Mustard Throw project.
It turned out to be knitting instead of crochet but I'm really pleased with it.

It is a Mock Cable pattern and available free on the Hobbycraft blog.
It will be going to its new home over the weekend.
I did wonder whether pom poms would look good on the corners?

In other news we celebrated Elliott's birthday.
It was a 3 day event - he knows how to milk it!
Trip to London, Lakeside and out for a meal.
Here he is with a cake and being photo bombed by Mitchell!

He is rather grown up now, all those growth injections worked!

I took Elliott for an Italian meal in Gravesend High Street,
just along from where the Hope and Chances' shop used to be.
It's that white one in the picture and now a nail salon.
I did take a peek in the window which is the first time since I left.
I realised I had deliberately been avoiding that part of town because
I was sad to see how much my little shop had changed.
But on that evening I was fine, I feel enough time has passed for me
not to dwell on what used to be and instead focus on now.

Always so pleased to see they still have the bunting.
At the very bottom of the High Street is the River Thames
and the ferry that takes you across to Tilbury in Essex.

So what else is happening?

Mum is finally managing to eat a little bit more and managing to get
out and about.
I've been having a bit of a Summer Clean (as opposed to Spring Clean)
indoors and getting around to various jobs including those
I've been putting off for a long time - cleaning the conservatory!
I have also discovered the benefits of Freecycle and have
found homes for many items that we did not need but just too
good to throw away.

Website news - still lots of items in the pre-loved and clearance.
Feel free to take a peek and keep popping back as more are uploaded
daily (although the times are a little erratic).
This weekend will see many items added - I promise!

Take care friends, hope you have a lovely weekend.
Thank you for stopping by.

Hi Christine,
Firstly belated birthday wishes to Elliott, looks as though you all enjoyed the celebration. I can imagine the mixed feelings on seeing what was your other baby. Like seeing a previously owned house you were happy in.
It's years since I was in Gravesend and can't really remember it but I've been down near Hythe during the past week's hot weather. On my travels courtesy of the local buses I found the building work on Dover seafront is more or less complete and the new pier is very nice for a stroll. A craft fayre in Herne Bay on Saturday and a big fayre on Monday in Folkestone gave me a few ideas. Just need the time to put them into practice!! One rare sight though both in Hythe and Folkestone - people on the beach - AND in the water! For all the years I have been going down there I don't think I have ever seen people in the water but there again it was rather hot.
Back to reality now and back down to Kent later in the week to continue clearing mum's house though a great deal has been done so the end is in sight. I hope I might might even get to start crafting again before too long particularly as I am well aware that "C" is not that far away now.
Have a good week end, best wishes Jackie xx

Love the blanket Christine and the photos of Elliott’s birthday photos. Glad he enjoyed it. Also pleased to hear your mum is improving. Didn’t like the hot weather at all and like you am glad it’s cooler now. Went out on Monday, which was a mistake but didn’t want to let a friend down who said she would be upset if didn’t go. Felt very unwell and fainted. Was well looked after my St John’s Ambulance People who insisted on phoning son to take me home. Didn’t want them to do that as he wasn’t happy about me going in first place. Lesson learned. I will listen to my head next time. Had to leave my car in the field. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Christine, So glad your Mum is feeling up to eating a little more and trying to get out a bit.
Elliott had a fabulous birthday cake, and sounds like he had a brilliant time and his birthday lasted over 3 days, he looks so grown up now, I remember seeing his picture when he was a boy with long beautiful hair, and Wow just look at him now !!
Your throw is really lovely and the recipient will be over the moon.
Enjoy your weekend.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

The blanket looks fabulous and would make a lovely Christmas present. Pompoms or tassels on the corners would be great. Glad Elliott had a fabulous Birthday, sounds like you had a very busy week. Nice to hear your mum is continuing to slowly improve. Summer cleaning why not. I just had new worktop so the kitchen had one. The only difficulty was trying to remember how everything fit back into the cupboards. Have a great week xx Hazel
