Hello friends
Digressing from die cutting today to share with you
my new found obsession - crochet!
Just over a month ago I saw on Instagram that you could
partake in The 100 Day Project.
#The100DayProject is a free art project that takes place online.
Every spring, thousands of people all around the world
commit to 100 days of exploring their creativity.
I thought this was my opportunity to try something new.
I went online, purchased 6 x 50g balls of yarn and a crochet hook.
I then watched hours of YouTube videos especially Bella Coco Crochet.
She is a British lady, I quickly discovered that
UK and US terms in crochet are different - goodness knows why!
I also discovered that I crochet holding both my yarn and hook in the same hand,
again...goodness knows why!
So here is my crochet journey so far...
100 stitches for the foundation chain.
Sticking to the double crochet stitch, the only one I picked up quickly.
Getting eager and measuring it many times.
But also finding it totally relaxing, crochet and a cuppa.
Trying it for size!
She definitely claimed it as hers, from now on to be known as
Bella's Blanket (BB).
The finished BB with a shell border - thankful for those YouTube videos!
I'm now venturing onto something a little more ambitious
(and in between still loving my die cutting).
So nice to dip into other things from time to time,
actually must get back to my quilting!
I'm sharing my 100 Day Project on Instagram daily, if you are on IG,
you can find me here.
I have quite a few Instagram accounts, Bella has her own here
and I also have one for my tiny garden and my adventures into
making it look nice!
Should you wish to recreate this blanket here's all the info:
Yarn - 6 x 50g balls, King Cole Baby DK
Hook - 5.00mm (I love the soft cushioned handle hooks)
Foundation chain - 100 stitches
Pattern - Double Crochet stitch throughout, chain 1 end of each row
Border - Shell stitch - YouTube
Finished size - 32 x 24 inches
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Hello Christine
I started to crochet and made lots of circular pieces but now I have to make them square to put them together and that is where I am at....nowhere!!
You seem to have more luck with your blanket.
Take care
Love Marg
Hi Christine.
A lovely cosy blanket for Bella.
I can crochet a granny square, I do love knitting too.
I cannot get my head around where the rows begin lol,
I am fine doing a square.
Any way Christine have lots of fun.
I shall ask my granddaughter about instagram.
Take care Kitty.
Hi Christine, Wow !! I am in awe of your achievement !! I have always wanted to try crochet but never have, your Bella Blanket is stunning, and Bella has definitely 'owned' it haha, she looks so cosy.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Lovely blanket Christine. I have just finished one for my newest GtGranddaughter and also did a shell stitch around the edge. I didn’t a different stitch for the blanket though.
You are doing very well Christine , Bella and I love her blanket .
Take care

I learnt to crochet several years ago but haven't made anything as beautiful as your blanket, it's gorgeous. I tend to stick to making flowers. Enjoy the Bank Holiday xx Hazel
Welcome to the club!!! Love that blanket.
I love crochet. I am left handed and self taught. I crochet blankets for premature babies born at our local hospital. This means that I can crochet wherever I am.... long car rides mean more blankets. I like making these small squares (large enough to fit over a bag of sugar) as I can use any wool, colour, thickness and pattern I like. I always edge the blankets with a shell border.

I LOVE IT! I am addicted to crochet at the moment and love making animals/birds/dogs/monsters designed by Kerry Lord (Toft) Check out her books I think you’ll love them They’re easy to understand and she has some great tutorials on YouTube It’s something I do most (well every) evenings I taught myself to crochet back in the 70’s way before YouTube and hold the yarn and hook in the same hand too
It’s easier to transport around with you too - one hook one stitch
