Grass!

Hello friends
A different blog post today but something I wanted to share with you.
The VT (Victorian Terrace) has had a garden makeover!
My garden is small but amazingly it still takes a lot of gardening time.
Over the last 10 years or so I've re-turfed the lawn a couple of times but it never looked good,
certain areas always refused to grow and it was never going to look bowling green standard!
My eldest son Mitchell hit upon the idea of artificial lawn - after some research we discovered
it is pet friendly, weather resistant and permanently green!
I was able to buy an off-cut to fit my garden and taking on the job ourselves meant it
would be economical too.
So the task began...
 Mitchell lifting the old lawn.
As you can see it wasn't a great lawn!
 Tiring work.
 Very exhausting for Bella!
More than half way lifting the old lawn.
Ikea bags - so useful for gardening!
A wooden frame was needed (thank you Dad!)
Levelling the soil - again big thanks to my Dad who stepped in to help.
'Stepped in' is what we all had to do at this point - trampling the ground to make it firm.
For ages we waddled around like penguins - I'm sure it gave the neighbours a giggle.
 13 bags of sand later....
 and plenty of paw prints!
The artificial lawn at last ...it is like fitting a carpet.
Finished - much greener and nicer!
I'm thrilled with the end result.
So grateful to my family.
Mitchell worked so hard, he said he wanted to make things easier for me over the Summer.
(I think he really meant he didn't want to end up mowing  the lawn each week!)
So - not craft related today but I will be back soon with some projects.
Take care friends.

Hi Christine. What a wonderful job the Emberson family have done on the lawn. Youre so lucky, and deservedly so, to have such great sons. Pat on the back to Dad too. Bella was obviously supervising the whole day!

Hope the sun continues to shine as I'm off to UK for a long weekend to incorporate HSNW. Anyone else going?

Good morning Christine, your lawn looks lovely and what a workforce you have in your family. You are very lucky. Mitchell deserves a little treat for doing all that hard work. So glad that you have one less thing to think about at this time. Crafting can wait - it will always be there for you! And all of us!

Hi Christine,
My hat off to Mitchell and your Dad and you, for that "family project".
At my sports club we've had artificial pitches for years and years and they're looking fine.
Looking forward to the final stage of your tutorial...

Hi Christine, well done Dad and Mitchell! The new lawn looks great. I think this is something we might have to think about as we are fighting a losing battle with our lawn. We keep getting bits dying off where Honey pees and the Dog rocks are useless. Have a lovely day. Hugs. Gemma xx

Hi Christine

your old lawn looked just like ours. However, ours in on a larger scale. Well done to Michael and Dad, and Bella for supervising. They all worked very hard. I assume this is like astro turf, which they use for football pitches. You now have a lovely trouble free lawn to relax in the sun on.

That looked like hard work, well done Mitchell and Dad! Worth the effort though as it looks great. Juliatx

It's funny, Christine, I was looking at artificial grass in the hardware store over the weekend! My garden is a little larger than yours however and would probably cost a fortune! My grass at the minute is more of a moss and weed combination, though I have to say, I love dandelions, they're like little sunshines - good thing really! The hard work was definitely worth the effort as your 'lawn' looks fantastic! Lisa x

Friends of ours are thinking of replacing their v.small lawn surrounded by lots of old trees that has never really grown well with this kind of turf boy what a great idea no more mowing and sneezing when you collect all the cut grass a winner all round.
