Festive Friday Die Day!

Hello friends
It is Friday Die Day and I've made it a little bit different and festive.
For the second week running it is not a tag!
I may need to apply a cold towel to my forehead soon - what is going on!!?
Photos are a little shadowy - I think it forgot to get light this week, such dull rainy days.
I'm featuring Classic Scalloped Circles Large from the Nestabilities® range.
So often we return to our reliable 'Nesties' for shapes, mounts, apertures etc
but how about doing something a little bit more with them...here goes...

You receive 6 die templates with this set - this is how they look cut/embossed.
I have selected die template No. 3 (you always count from the middle outwards)
and cut/embossed an assortment of festive papers (Simple Stories - Handmade Holidays)
I'm still using up lots of scraps and this project is perfect for this.
With each die cut, fold in half.  Use a bone folder to get a sharp edge.
 Then fold into quarters.
You need 4 but I got carried away and made 8!
Apply a little adhesive down into the corners just to keep the folded flaps together.
Align them to create a flower design.
Use a die cut as a backing so you have a base to affix the 'quarters' to.
Once in place tweak/lift up the layers.  I chose to ink the edges too.
Rummage in your button jars/boxes and select one or two, tie a bow with bakers twine.
I layered the buttons and stuck them in the middle with 3D Foam Squares.
I decided to use my flower on a jar, an empty one but I do intend to put some nice goodies in there!
A close up picture.
Simple to make, uses up scraps and buttons - do you have tons of buttons?  I swear mine breed!
How is everyone doing with their Christmas shopping/plans?
I'm nearly there - I'm not sure how it all came together - maybe it was those little elves!
Have a wonderful Friday.
Take care friends.

Morning Christine, WOW, this flower is stunning, will have to try this, got the papers, not got the die, sadly, will have to improvise ha ha.
I still have some wrapping to do, fresh shopping and turkey to get, Bank to visit for my gift-velopes. Have been ill for 5 weeks now and can't get rid of the racking cough, doctor has given me steroids this week, so hope they work their miracles. My hubby deserves a 'medal' he has done everything, he is an absolutely angel.
I hope all your preparations are going well, Christine.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Love what you did with the dies today, will definitely have a go at this as is looks so effective. We are lucky this year as it is our turn to visit the family so I only had to do presents/cards - makes a lovely change. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and successful 2013. Hi Christine,
What a wonderful creation - i am glad that you have featured an older set of dies as i think we all get carried away with the new and forget about the basics.

Hi Christine. Really lovely idea. I have these dies in the smmaller size so maybe the lagest size of them will do.

Apart from Iceland this afternoon, everything seems to be done. Ordered the meat and veg to be picked up on Monday. Just as well I'm organised as I've woken up with a rotten cold this morning and have been back to bed for a couple of hours.

What a great idea Christine - will be attempting these as decor for many items. It is always good to see some of the older dies being used in many different ways - keep up the good work. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year with your boys, Bella and family.

Hi Christine, how lovely. A beautiful project. I am saving all your ideas for next year, Ive not had time to do everything I wanted to. I too like that you have used the basic dies, I guess it is easy to forget them with all the beautiful new ones on the market.
Glad your preparations are going well. Did the shopping last night, at work today - last day though. Going out tonight for a meal so no tea to cook.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Christine, What a super FDD tutorial today. Thank you. Like others, these dies were a set I purchased sometime ago.
Well, with all gifts wrapped, most of the baking done (just the ham to bake this weekend)I'm ready to party.
Have yourself a lovely weekend.
