Some news...

Hello friends

Thank you for all your kind messages yesterday.
Here is my boy with my lovely Mum having some lunch after our appointment.
The news is mixed - the hospital have not completely dismissed the idea of
transferring Elliott to an open sided MRI scanner, and they have said that
funding is not an issue...!
But they are concerned the imaging may not be as good so they need
to consult with the neurosurgeon at the private clinic.

Also they are very much in favour of Elliott having more therapy to help with his anxiety.
Because all this is taking a lot of time and he is supposed to have scans every 6 months,
Elliott is having a CT scan within a couple of weeks - he gets through those perfectly,
which makes me thinks he could cope so much better with an open sided MRI.

Anyway that's all the hospital stuff - thank you so much for 'listening' to me here,
we've been on quite a journey over the last couple of years and you have all been
such amazing support to me.

Other news...
Today is the Sapphire launch day on Create and Craft.
I discovered that this little beauty is exclusive to them so if you would like one
grab one quick!
The price of £39.99 is for the machine and 14 dies!

Please stop by tomorrow for Friday Die Day,
a craft project instead of all my nattering - hurrah!

Take care friends.

I hope you get the best possible outcome for him. If they are worried about the quality of the imaging, perhaps they could do it once to see whether it is clear enough, and only consider more therapy for his anxiety if it turns out not to be clear enough?

Hi Christine,
I'm glad the hospital are still not ruling out an open scanner, this may be a silly question, but is it possible to sedate Elliott for the scans? Or is this not an option?

Looks like you had a fun time at lunch and not a Big Mac in sight.
I'm looking forward to seeing the new Sapphire.

Good news re hospital & fingers crossed the consultant says it will be OK. Looks like you didn't go to McD's for lunch-what happened?!!

I'm intrigued by the new Sapphire machine so will tune in to C&C tv to see what they show.

Hi Christine,

Hi christine
Cannot understand the doctors concern about image quality,if this scanner is in a private clinic you can bet it will have cost the earth and be the very best available, after all the private sector has so much more cash than our beloved but overstretched NHS.
Glad that they are at least looking at the option, keep positive.
On crafting matters, the new machine looks fun, only wish I had the space to accommodate another machine, but if I did I think I might like an artisan xplorer, how do you think the two compare?

Love and hugs to you Elliott and Mitchell

Linda, oh dear its raining in south shields

Hello Christine
How can the imaging not be as good!
would they waste money on an inferior machine?
So pleased you are getting them to listen..... surely Elliott comes first!
Looking forward to watching the new machine today on C/Craft!
Take care Christine!
Love Marg

So pleased to hear that you had positive comments yesterday. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the verdict from the other Consultant. Glad to hear the bluebells have come into their own at last. We saw them last week and thought there were more. In very very wet ad on at the moment, although yesterday was stunning. Love Jean D. Xx

sorry the doctors weren't more positive about the open MRI Christine, couldn't they give it a try?
Just looked at Jane Willis comment (first one in the list) and I was about to say the same thing.

Watching the new machine prog, I missed the beginning, not sure if dies will also go in other machines, but they look as if they would.

I hope things work out for Elliot, you have all had such a lot of trauma over the last couple of years
I think I had a small die cutting machine similar to this new one some years ago which I passed on to my daughter and she still uses.
Will have a look at C&C but might have missed it now.

Hi Christine

So pleased you had a more positive meeting yesterday hopefully they will be able to come up with a more favourable solution for Elliot thankyou for posting the lovely picture of him and your Mum bet you had a lovely lunch.

The Saphire machine looks gorgeous would be ideal for my Granddaughter the dies are so nice
I am waiting for the electric machine to come out as I have problems with my shoulder.

You can count on our support Christine. Natter on all you like! I know you will get what is best for Elliott. He looks really well.
The dinky little Sapphire machine is a great temptation, but I'm going to wait until it's more widely available. I'm wondering if it's suitable for a 7 year old. She loves art and craft and it would be a wonderful gift for her birthday in September. It's not exclusive to C&C forever is it?

Hi Christine,
Sorry I wasn't in yesterday, had a disaster of a day!
I have everything crossed that the outcome of the conversation with the consultant and the private clinic are positive, I hadn't realised there was a difference in quality between the two scanners!
Christine it has been a privilege to share your journey, you give as much, if not more support than you receive too!
The other thing that as stood out for me is that smile, Elliott has had a smile on his face throughout the whole process, it may have been 'painted on' a times but he is a truly incredible young man, he is so much like you!
Now this Sapphire machine ! Hmmm the jury is out, while the rest of machines a going large, Spellbinders go the opposite way! I have a few smaller machines, I don't need another, when is the other bigger one coming out? They must invest so much money in machines, it's not long since the Artisan Explorer, I am sure it will be a huge success !
Looking forward to FDD,
Sending hugs,
Sandra xxxx

Hi Christine, Great piccie of your Mum and Elliott, let's keep optimistic of a good outcome for an open-sided scanner.
The 'diddy' Sapphire machine looks fabulous, great to see Kim, she looks fabulous too.

Hi Christine
Well that sounds very positive from the hospital which is always good news. And a big relief about the funding too.
A great picture of Elliott and your mum. I am surprised it wasn't in MacDonalds tho!!
Please keep us updated with Elliott's progress. I is a pleasure to be able to share this part of your life with you. The old saying a problem shared and all that is very true. Sometimes writing it all down can release the build up of pressure in your head so that you can continue to cope with all that life has a habit of throwing at you. So blogging could be added to the therapy column too. We are very lucky really that crafting is such a joyous and caring hobby to have, the people that we meet on our crafting journey are all so lovely, a real community that I am very proud to be a member of. So keep sharing Christine.
I haven't been able to catch and of the shows but I will try and see if I can find them on catch up. This working life can get in the way sometimes!!
Take care
Lesley

What a worry for you, hopefully it will get sorted soon one way or the other. It's good to write your feelings down and I hope it helps if only in a small way. Elliot is looking very well so hopefully that is a positive and a lovely photo of Elliot and your mum too. Don't tell but I have ordered the Sapphire!! X

Lovely picture ! Elliott's T shirt is fab. Hope he has been to see the new avengers film. Hopefully the hospital will be able to help you sort the MRI you want xxx

Hi Christine. Hope the hospital come to a favourable decision. I don't like the MRI scanner. Keep my eyes shut all the time and it is so noisy. Like the look of the little die cutting machine. Would be ideal for my 7yr old granddaughter. Somewhere in my Craft room I have an Xcut Impress die cutter and wondering if I could use that for small Spellbinder dies. At the time I was using it I didn't have any Spellbinder dies so couldn't try. Will have to see if I can find it.
