Beads of Courage

Hello friends
Firstly, thank you for liking the December kit and thank you for ordering.
They are on their way to you - I hope the pre-Christmas post doesn't delay
things - you need your bags to go shopping!
In case you missed the details - pop along to here.
On the website is not just the December kit but all previous kits too.
Hoping to make this a brilliant festive fund raiser for such a good charity.

Also thank you for enquiring about Elliott.  We had a bit of a wobbly day on Monday
as he wasn't feel so good but he has perked up now and back to eating and sitting in front
of his computer - perfect healthy boy signs!
Here he is (well, his hands anyway!) holding beads - but not just any ol' beads -
these are Beads of Courage.

For every treatment Elliott receives he is given a bead, the ones he are holding below represent
each radiotherapy session so far - they glow in the dark (very appropriate!)
It is a lovely idea and Elliott has embraced it fully.
Here's a very short video that explains a little more.
He is also receiving the wonderful daily gifts from Anne - not missed a single day,
I take them to the hospital and as we walk out of the radiotherapy suite I hand one to him.
Such kindness from so many lovely people.

Other news...oh yes, the water leak!

I'm pleased to say that after a flurry of calls and emails
some progress has been made.  I am meeting with the Landlord's agents this morning at
the shop before we drive to the hospital to discuss more (yes, an early start!)
It will then be a mission to get everything dry - a dehumidifier will go in and heaters.
It is a little torturous for me - I do like things done yesterday!
It looks like I will be going ahead with my class on Sunday, I really want to as
I've got plans to make it so festive :)

I will be back very soon and I will be calling on any knitters out there...
Take care friends.

Hi Christine. So glad Elliott is doing ok now. Nobody likes Mondays so that wobble was understandable :)
I looked at the mini clip about the beads and will look at the site when I finish here. Sounds like a great idea. Glad that the repairs are starting and that your class on Sunday will hopefully go ahead, you will all have such a good time. I wish I lived nearer:( Knitters needed? What is that all about? Take care.

I understand your frustration about the slowness in the leak situation, I would be the same, I always want everything done 'yesterday' too haha. Lets hope they get it fixed quickly.

Hi Christine
glad that Elliot is doing ok now. It's quite understandable to have a wobble on Monday's. Monday's is that kind of a day. What a fantastic idea to give beads that glow in the dark after each treatment, and I wonder if they do something like this at the Churchill in Oxford. All cancer treatment used to be done at the JR until they opened a brand new state of the Art unit at the Churchill. Even my partner said he would have loved to get some beads when he was having his treatment. Glad your leak seems to be progressing even if it's going to take awhile. Hope the classes go well on Sunday. Wish I lived nearer to Kent.

Hi Christine, Love the beads idea

Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days, playing catch up now. The beads are such a wonderful idea, my friends daughter is up to 706 beads in her battle against leukemia!! I'm sure there will be days when Elliot doesn't feel so good but after a bad day or two there is always a good one. Off to order my kit xx

Glad you are getting your "wet" problem fixed. Remember to keep emptying that dehumidifier, they can fill fast after a leak.(experience)

Elliott you are a wonder boy. Keep it up. So glad to hear that the leak may be fixed sometime soon - its hard wanting things to be done and dusted but some things have to wait until the time is right - hopefully that will be very soon for your studio. Good luck with your class and all Christmas plans.
Good wishes as always
