A Different Take...

Hello friends,
I have visions of you all making lemon and coconut cake after posting the recipe yesterday :)
I am always happier to try recipes that have been given to me as opposed to searching through books so if any of you out there have some delicious (and preferably speedy) cake recipes I would love to receive them.

I mentioned that I had a class last Saturday morning, it was the Summer Card and Gift Box class,
I decided to alter the card and box a little bit - a different take on the original design.
I've still used the very pretty Jewel Flowers and Flourishes but this time I've cut the
label that features in Jar Labels, rearranged the design and backing paper.
Eagle eyed blog readers may have noticed the box is slightly distorted, here is the reason why....
My cat Imogen.
I kept staging the photo but each time I stepped back to take the shot she decided to launch herself at the box and knock it to the ground!  I think I got it on about the fifth shot but by that time the box
had got a little misshaped.  Honestly the lengths us crafters go to!

Also on Saturday I visited a craft group in Meopham, Kent,
I thought it would be nice to take along a simple make-and-take item and guess what??
It was a tag!
We used Bitty Blossoms and Les Papillions, and had fun rolling the flowers,
inking and stencilling through the leaves.

Other news:
I've just heard my two days scheduled for Create and Craft are not going ahead this month,
it often happens that the shows get pulled which is a shame because I had some nice ideas to share but
all is not lost... I will be there in October.

And before then... I will be at Ally Pally on Sunday demonstrating on the Creative Expressions stand - please come and say hello to me if you are there that day.

Finally...goodness me, my posts are getting longer and longer...
My Amazon Shop is beginning to fill up with more goodies including dies (seems to be a bit of theme with flowers and butterflies..), stamps (including that Texture one I keep using!)
and the brilliant Scrapbook Adhesives products.
I'm calling it 'Temptation on a Tuesday'!
Have a lovely day dear friends.

Hi Christine, great card and box. Imogen looks very interested in what is going on, cats are really nosy. Your tags are always so exciting just love to see what you come up with. You store is filling up and prices are very competitive.

Morning,

Well popped over to see the temptation - but have resisted...but for how long lol.
Really like the card and box will have to try and replicate.
Will be trying the recipe tomorrow as cake day at work on Thursdays.

Hi Christine,
wonderful card box and tag. Do you know I still haven't made an actual tag, and I've only been card crafting for 10 years.lol. I have made a tag card though.
Have you thought of trying a similar loaf cake with lemon curd or orange curd on top and then sprinkling coconut on the top of that. On second thoughts it maybe a bit too sticky for your classes.
Have a wonderful crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Morning Christine

Your card and box is so pretty...I dont have the die for the box but I would still like to have a go at doing one. Would just have to get out my trusty box maker lol

Just popped over to your shop and there is nothing I need at the moment (Now there is a rare statement from a crafter lol) but your prices are brilliant

Sorry C&C have cancelled your September shows hope it didnt cause you too much distruption in your busy life

Ally Pally is a bit far for me to come but hope you have a wonderful time

Morning Christine, Absolutely lovely the card and box, I adore the jewel flowers and flourishes, I've just bought it, and the paper you have used on them is beautiful.
I'm loving the 'limed wood' backing paper you have used, where is that from please ???
The tag is beautiful and I'm sure that the ladies at the craft club absolutely loved making it.
Imogen is gorgeous.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Morning Christine,
Very pretty creations today. The jewel flowers and flourishes are fast becoming my new favourite. I did some of the flowers with micro beads and was very pleased with the result.
I have a couple of fast cake recipes I'll sort them out for you.
Have a good day.

Hi Christine

Stunning projects this morning. Is the paper My Mind's Eye? It's gorgeous. My two cats are really playful too! Infact they've been chasing each other this morning. They're so adorable though. Beautiful tag aswell. Great idea for a make and take as they're quick and easy to do. Have a lovely day.

Hi Christine, seeing your gorgeous card and box has reminded me that I have now completed my plaque and it looks wonderful. DD is having her kitchen (and the rest of the downstairs it seems) remodelled and I am going to give it to her.

It is lovely that Imogen is so playful, the box doesn't look too bad......

Love the make and take tag too, it is stunning. Crafty hugs, Anne x

Lovely card and box Christine, even if the box has been around a bit before the photo! I've printed your recipe to try out sometime soon, seems ages since I made a coconut cake, and with the added lemon, it sounds delicious!

Your shop is coming along nicely, you must be so pleased
:-)

I've received my ticket now for Ally Pally, so looking forward to coming along and saying hello to you.
In the meantime, have a good week.

Well it may have been a bit of a long blog today but made enjoyable reading & was also very informative. Shame about your shows being cancelled but will be at Ally Pally on Sunday (ooooo I can't wait) & will stop by to say hello. Cooking is not really my thing but may have a go at that cake as it sounds sooooo good.

Hi Christine - I love your card, box and tag. Great designs and great colours. I think the box has a bit of 'je ne sais quoi' about it. My two girls (cats) were exactly the same as Imogen. Ebony was especially dextrous with a good old lefty when it came to knocking things off the table, craft worktop - anywhere! She would always manage to look so innocent as well!

Hugs to you Sue P xxx

This is a really pretty box and card and a delightful tag. I was thinking about making a little gift box selection of tags for my daughter for christmas as she is always off to dinner somewhere taking a bottle of wine, box of choccies or some flowers.

Hi christine, been so busy this past weekend and two days just not had chance to post comments. Must say though, we have had good fun and a super supper last night at the Harvest Auction and supper.Back to a more normal few days now.
Regarding those blackberreies in your garden, do pick them, lightly cook them and put them in the fridge for a few days until you can make a blackberry and apple crumble for those growing boys of yours this coming weekend.Mine (plus hubby) love B & A crumble puddings!
Must try your Lemon and coconut cake soon, thanks for sharing.
As always, your projects are great. Please tell me you will try and get the square box/top die at some point. I have the die you have put on the blog today and made two or three recently as gift boxes. If not, where can I source it from?
Crafty best wishes, Carolyn x
