Recycling!

Hello friends
Hope you are all having a leisurely Sunday, perhaps managing to sit down and read a book....
(that's my feeble link to books today!)
Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine asked me to create some projects using book pages.
I have just the one old book - Charles Dickents - A Tale of Two Cities,
this book has certainly been recycled - many times!
I chose a wood grain background paper - My Mind's Eye - Miss Charlotte,
added a single book page (I had to keep flicking through the book to find some appropriate wording, I wish I had an old copy of Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre, think that would be calmer reading!)
I cut down the one page a little and inked the edges.
I then chose Lacey Squares, a strip of stamped sentiment and then added butterflies,
using some book pages there too.
It's a little unusual but I was happy with the end result.

If you visit my blog regularly you will probably know how much of an animal lover I am,
Bella features often and so do my cats (when they can be bothered to move and not sleep!)
I was recently contacted by a lady who is involved in animal charities on the island of Crete.
Now, I'm not going to ask you for a single penny but here is a clever way of supporting the charity.
If you are about to make a purchase from Amazon please click into this website first,
you are then directed to the normal Amazon website but
a small percentage of your pennies goes to the charity.
So clever, so quick and such a good cause.

Talking of animals, Bella is going for a haircut tomorrow (her hairdressing bill is more than mine!)
Happy Sunday dear friends.

Hi Christine. Really unusual background. Spent a while reading the text. Good idea to put all the old books to some use.
My little dog Gracie hates having her hair cut. We have to give her a sedative before she goes. Poor little love.

Morning Christine, Absolutely beautiful, I love the background paper with the lace edge, the butterflies make the card, for me. Using the old book pages is a fantastic idea, although I'm such a 'book lover' that I don't think I could cut any up ha ha !!
Good Luck Bella for tomorrow, when I had 2 miniature poodles I ended up having to cut their hair myself, those groomers deserve all the money they charge ha ha, you definitely need all the equipment for keeping them still, it used to take me an hour for each one, and at the end my hubby and I were 'frazzled' ha ha.
Have a lovely day today.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Hi Christine,
wonderful card so beautifully done.
Love the lacy bits and of course those beauty butterflies. Love the idea of the book page. I have made roses out of an old book page but not used in this way.

Hi Christine, this is such a beautiful card, I especially like the heading on the book page, so perfect for a card - clever you! Those lace doillies (?) behind the butterflies are stunning and I love how you created the butterflies too. A really beautiful card. Gosh, Bella's fur grows quickly, I remember her last haircut......Crafty hugs, Anne x

Morning Christine, i love that you'll left most of the page on show, when i see book pages on projects, i always read them to see if it says something it shouldn't! So im glad you read yours first! Great layout.

I don't have any old books I want to pull apart, so I've ended up ordering a rubber stamp so I can get a similar effect.
