Friday Chat Day

Hello friends

Happy Friday.
I'm discombobulated this week as I've taken yesterday
and today off from my city job so I'm constantly checking
to see what day it is!
My time off was to celebrate my birthday.
In true tradition it was freezing cold, never barbecue weather!
I spent the day at Waddeston Manor with my friends
and it was lovely and very Christmassy.

We go each year and do a little tour of the house.
Each room has a different tree and my favourite was sheep themed!
I've already induced horror into the boys with having a pink-ish tree planned
for this year, I dare not mention sheep for next!

We also indulged in afternoon tea and a glass of Prosecco,
photo taken before the Prosecco - oh dear!

It is a beautiful place to visit, a Christmas market too with quite a lot of free
samples of cider, gin, liqueurs - well it would be rude not to try!
So I feel quite festive now, perfect time to work on my garland.
This week I went back to Poundland and bought these present decorations.
The leaves and mini pinecones are perfect and
I've kept the red berries to add to my original garland.

And here's the risk of ordering stuff online.
Wired holly leaves it said...look how tiny they are!!
I'm still going to use them - waste not...

A few more bits added including baubles, bells and ribbon.
I promise it is going to look way better when finished.
I've ordered some ivy and larger holly leaves which will help fill it out.

In other news it wasn't the nicest of weeks for Bella.
She went along for her dental work and instead of just 5 teeth removed
it's pretty much her whole top jaw.
She's on medication and back at the vets for a check up tomorrow,
pleased to say she is looking brighter now and is eating fine - soft food though!

I hope you are all having a good week and you are keeping warm.
I recalled the 'November' poem recently by Thomas Hood.
For those of you who may not have come across it, sharing it below,
it is fairly accurate.

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day -
No sky - no earthly view -
No distance looking blue -
No road - no street - no 't'other side the way' -
No end to any Row -
No indications where the Crescents go -
No top to any steeple -
No recognition of familiar people -
No courtesies for showing 'em -
No knowing 'em -
No travelling at all - no locomotion,
No inkling of the way - no notion -
'No go' - by land or ocean -
No mail - no post -
No news from any foreign coast -
No Park - no Ring - no afternoon gentility -
No company - no nobility -
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, -
November!

Crochet ...

I've been working on the Tranquil Waters Blanket.
This is a kit from Knitting Network and it is panels of colour
with a very pretty border.

I've put all the details up on the Yarn tab.

Today I will be posting another website offer,
stock is reducing, down to just a few shelves in my cabin.
Please look out for that if you want to grab some bargains,
I post on Facebook and also send out an email for website subscribers.

I think that's it for this week, I don't know where the days
are going, everything feels on fast forward.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by,
next week more garland!

Hi Christine, looks like you had a most enjoyable birthday and sheep on a tree is certainly different. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished garland you've got so many pieces for it.
Your new blanket will be finished in plenty of time for the spring and the ice cream colours are very pretty.
I'm glad to hear that Bella is feeling better though doesn't sound as though she will be gnawing the Christmas bones now.
Have a good week xx

Sounds like you had a brilliant birthday with your friends Christine! Pleased to hear Bella is over her surgery and I'm sure she'll manage OK with very few teeth - our 11 year old did. The poem is oh so true, I wanted to add a further line at the end - "just rain". Fed up with it now, nothing for it but to sit by the fire crafting xxx

I love your updates. What a fun looking group of women! You guys look like you would be someone you had just met but felt like you knew forever. I bet Bella does hurt a little, I think we would too in that kind of situation. The pictures of the manor are so beautiful. At least November is almost over and then.......The big C oh no! My birthday is next week and my husband's, his is the day before mine so we cannot forget each other's birthday : )

Hi Christine, So glad you had a lovely Birthday, and looking at Carole's selfie with you all, you all look to be enjoying every minute, I should imagine 'after' the Prosecco you would have all looked considerably 'happier' too haha.
Poor, poor Bella, so glad she is eating ok now albeit soft food, she would wonder what had happened to her, poor baby.
Your crochet is looking gorgeous and beautiful colours too.
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished garland.
Enjoy your weekend. I know exactly what you mean about time flying !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx
