Friday Die Day!

Hello friends
Yes - it's that time of the week again when I explore the wonderful world of Spellbinders dies!
I'm going to ignore it is Friday the 13th and be positive all day!
This week, as birds have featured a great deal on my blog(!!)
I thought I would go with Bird Sanctuary.
With this set you receive four die templates.
I've chosen to cut/emboss the bird cages using Precious Metal Craft Foils.
I think this really makes the cages looks realistic.
Here are the birds - cut/embossed and stencilled.
Now here is a little idea, try sanding the foil to reveal the silver beneath....
It adds an aged burnished look, if you happen to flatten your foil die cut when sanding (I tend to do this a little too vigorously at times!) just pop it back into the die template and run it through again with your tan mat and embossing plate, it pops the detail straight back in.
You can then add different colour onto the sanded areas using distress inks.
Also, don't forget to look at your 'fall out' pieces from the dies -
these look like beautiful hearts that you can re-use.
Oh look - the tags are back!
I have stamped the background, inked the edges, adhered a tiny bit of sticky lace and some gingham ribbon.
I've chosen to use the smaller sanded birdcage and the little bird, inked a little more and added a beady eye!
I've put my bird outside the cage...don't like seeing birds inside cages.
And a close up too...
Have a great weekend everyone - I'm going to be sorting lots of crafty items and planning...
more photos coming soon.
Take care.

Hi Christine,
spellbinders dies are so versatile, quite often you can use the pieces that are left when you've cut out an item. I use mine all the time, keep them in a tin for future use. Some of the small pieces make lovely borders round frames of photos or pictures. Gives them a lace effect too. Wonderful tag by the way, really like the bird theme this week. Have a great crafty and sunny day I hope everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Morning! Lovely ideas...I like the bird outside the cage...it can choose to go in or not!!
My daughter was born on Friday 13th so she thinks its a special day...like an unofficial birthday! She tells me there are 4 Friday 13ths this year and they're all 13 weeks apart!!

Hi Christine, thanks for the tip on putting the foil back in the die & re-embossing if sanded too vigorously. It's like you have been watching me in my craft room. Great tag. Loving the bird houses. Have a great day.

I love your tag Christine, especially the fact that the bird is outside of the cage - I'm with you on that one!! I think the colours are brilliant and love the bit of gingham. I have some of the metals ....... now where did I put them?????

Please be careful when moving your stuff in the studio - I have just hurt my back doing the very same thing in my craft room.

Hello Christine,
First please accept my apologies for my absence of late. After I had done the bulk of the reorganising at home, my bad throat and cough turned into a chest infection. The doctor has now put me strong antibiotics so I should be on the mend very soon now, so I am taking this resting time to try and catch up with my favourite peeps.
You have been so busy since my last visit. BIG CONGRATULATIONS on the studio and I wish you every success and happiness with it. I know how fabulous I felt just having the spare bedroom turned into my craftroom, so you must be 'Dancing on the ceiling' as the enigmatic Lionel Richie would sing!!
I adore the tag today, and the tips are most welcome. I love so much to learn new things everyday and your blog certainly helps me in that department. Thank you.
Well I must go now, I have bent your ear enough. Take care and again I wish for you only good things with the studio.
Big Hugs Linda xx
