Winners and Platinum!

Hello friends

There has been a flurry of talk and excitement about the new machine that
Spellbinders will be launching this Summer and rightly so...it looks brilliant!
Here is Christy (Stacey's sister) doing a wonderful job modelling the 'Platinum'
at CHA this week.
So what's new about this machine...?? I don't have all the details just yet but I can confirm
it will take the thick steel rule dies along with your regular dies and folders.
This is what Christy had to say about it....
"It has a platform that folds into itself for easy storage.  Steel rule dies cut multiple
layers of material.  In my opinion it is a huge asset to any kind of craft studio."
And the one question I can answer...how big is it??
Here's a photo for comparison.
The Grand Calibur was launched in July 2010, it still continues to be one of the most
popular die cutting machines on the market and I'm certain that will continue.
That said, Spellbinders, being the innovative company that it is,
have recognised that many crafters desire a machine that can take both types of dies.

As soon as I have more information, including the price(!) I promise to let you all know.
When I get my hands on one I will also be doing video tutorials.
Put that Elliott to work!

Now to the winners of Sunday's Giveaway -

the winner of Create An Iris is....

PATRICIA YOUDELL

and Create An Aster is....

JANICE

Drop me an email with your postal address please - hope-chances@live.co.uk
I will then whisk your dies off in the post to you.
Congratulations to you both.

Other news - I will be announcing the winner of the January Charity Kit
in about a week's time.  There are still kits available to buy - just follow this link.
Some of you have been kindly sending photos of your completed kits -
thank you - I love seeing them made up so please send, send, send!!

Take care friends.

Hi All.
Thank you for showing the new GC.I really need a new one, I am glad to see it is still manual, sorry but I don't think I have the patients to wait for the electric one to go through LOL, and it can be used any where you are not looking for a power point. Take care Kitty. Congrats to the winners.

Hi Christine,
Wow, love the look of the new Grand Calibur, will be keeping an eye on this one, I only hope that it is not too expensive. Congratulations to the winners of the flower dies.

i Christine, congrats to the winners... the new machine looks lovely, but I did sigh a little! I've had my GC since they came out, it has been repaired twice but has soldiered on over the years until it just couldn't cope with the larger dies any more. So, for Christmas I had the new improved blue one and at the time said to my hubby, that I really couldn't understand why they hadn't brought one out for the thicker dies...and now I see they are! Wishing I'd waited now!!!! :) Hugs Carole Z X

The new machine sounds good but looks massive. Thank you for the closed comparison it folds up quite small and not much difference in sizes. Looking forward to seeing your Videos on the new machine congrats to winners xx hazel

Looks a beautiful machine Christine but guess it will be quite expensive. I am happy with my Ebosser at the moment, although I love spellbinders I was disappointed with the grand calibar I went through two in just over a year it was not very strong but it did give me a great introduction to die cutting. Lets hope this new one is made of stronger stuff lol! I shall look forward to your views on it.

Love & Hugs

Morning Christine,
I must say the new machine looks good, but I would have though it may have been electric. I'm thinking of getting an E-bosser as I find that the G/C just does not cut like it used too and the pressure is not that good any more.

Good morning Christine, and what a fabulous surprise to win the Aster die.....thank you very much! I will look forward to having a go and making some. Better start searching for your tutorials to give me a helping hand!

The new machine certainly looks to be a sturdy
'beast' 👍 There were lots of posts on FB yesterday that it is in competition with Sizzix and Tonic who are also bringing out new machines soon, all around the £150 mark, but not sure how correct that is of course!
Have a lovely day.

Thanks for giving an introduction to the new machine Christine. Surprised that the new teal one was described as the 'improved' embossing machine when this was in the pipeline! Looking forward to seeing it in use however so please keep us updated. Anne x

Good Morning Christine,
Thank you for the extra information on the new Platinum Machine, I spotted it at the weekend and sent a message asking for some information, they just said watch this space! Mind you I know how busy they must have been with the show etc.
your shot of it next to the Grand Calibur shows that it really isn't that much bigger at all!
I would.d be very interested to see how well it cuts, the platform looks a little wider than A4, if this is the case that would be a huge advantage as one of the problems I have with GC is that the only decent cutting area is down the side, which in most cases is fine but if you are cutting a border that is the whole width of the plate and you have to turn it sideways you are then limited to the width of the plates, which can be very frustrating! I am looking to replace my Die cutting machine so the sooner it's out and road tested the better!
Will you get it first to try out Christine? I hope so as I recall value your opinion.
Congratulations to the lucky flower die winners!
Hugs

Hi, Christine, It looks like you're having a great time. I have to say that the new machine has caught my attention. I have a really nice for cutter that takes A4 embossing folders but I have to admit that I've been thinking of saving up to get a Big Shot as since giving my Wizard away I really need a machine that will take the thick Sizzix dies. Now this one is coming out I may have to save up a lot more and think about investing in the Platinum instead.

Can I answer Janice about the makeup of the new machine? Janice, I saw a video about it and it seems all the gears are now metal so that as well as the lovely stainless steel rollers should add up to a very robust piece of kit :)

Hi Christine. Comgratulations to the lucky winners of the flower dies. Enjoy your dies ladies : )
The Platinum looks like it will be a bit sturdier than the G.C. It will be interesting to see what you think of it.

Christine, you may edit the following as I don't want to cause any trouble for you.

Sorry to say this Christine but I have to admit that after having had 3 G C's since Nov.2012 that had suffered 2 x broken handles and then 1 x oil leakage(I have arthritis in my hands so no chance of me putting too much pressure on the handle and only Spellbinder and Sue Wilson-Creative Expressions dies so no way was I try to force thicker dies through!) I gave up and got an Xpress X Cut. A fantastic machine with adjustable rollers that can take ALL dies on the market. No regrets from me at all.

I hope you have a good day. Take care.

The new machine looks interesting, but I haven't really made the most of my existing GC yet. Not sure what 'steel rule dies' are though. Am I missing something?
Congrats to the create-a-flower winners.

Hi
I am excited by the new Platinum machine. I have owned a big shot for several years and I am happy with it except that there are occasions when I have needed a larger machine, so I look forward to seeing what it will do

Hi Christine
This machine looks interesting. I love some of the designs of the bigz dies but wouldn't want to change my trusty GC. Having said that, after many years of loyal service my GC has developed a bit of a wonky handle so maybe I am in line for an upgrade.
Congratulations to the winners.
Take care
Lesley
