Noteable Notebooks!

Hello friends
I was greeted by this scene as I arrived at the studio/shop yesterday.
That is a container ship cruising past on the River Thames,
did I mention how close my shop is to the river?!
At times these ships seem to blot out the whole skyline, never ceases to surprise me.
Yesterday's class...a view of the desks just as cake was served...
mini lemon and coconut loaves - love these cake cases.
Notice there are chocolate biscuits too nestled with the removable tape!
Ros mentioned yesterday the leather look technique.  This is by spraying craft paper with
a mixture of glycerine and water, scrunching and using an embossing folder.
Well, we did that at the class - thank you to Sally who did the demo.
Here is mine drying before a bit more scrunching.
And here is a whole array of them drying!
And then onto the altered notebooks...
Tessa's
Sara's
Sandra's (not quite glued in place but nearly there)
Janice's
 and Sally's
Thank you ladies, it was a really fun morning.
More Coffee and Create classes being revealed soon
including some being held on Saturdays.
All the details will go up on the website.

The majority of pokey tools have now been dispatched and I'm already
receiving emails from you saying how delighted you are.
I will pass on all your comments to Dad.

Tomorrow, all going well there is going to be a little survey on my blog...
intriguing eh!?

Take care friends.
Oh yes, the rain returned here too - I definitely spoke too soon!

Hi Christine. Wow! That is some view normally then. I didn't know that you were that close to the Thames or the sea, you lucky thing. Any chance of a container ship free shot (I love water, being on the beach is my favourite place to be)? Glad to see that you kept the ladies well supplied with yummy cake and chocolate. I need to find out how to do the leather look technique, it looks great. I love how each ladies notebook is an original piece, every book is wonderful, the ladies must be very proud. Yes we had rain here yesterday, apart from an hour about midday when the grey skies suddenly cleared to reveal a beautiful blue sunny sky. An hour later the grey returned for the rest of the day with some very heavy downpours! It is so uplifting to see all of the crocuses, snowdrops and now the daffodils out though, even when it's raining. Take care.

Morning Christine, Loving the pic down the street, although I can't decide which is ship and which isn't haha !! Like Mrs B, I would love to see a pic without the ship, if only for me to see which is ship and which isn't hahaha.
The notebooks are absolutely gorgeous, I love them all. The mini lemon and coconut cakes look divine, yes I love the cases too. A lovely day was had by all.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Hi Christine
It was a lovely, relaxing class, thank you, with a lovely group of ladies. I really enjoyed altering the notebook, and now I know how, I will be altering many more to give as gifts!
Thanks again to Sally for sharing this technique with us. I am determined to get inking and spraying again to use my piece on another notebook, I love this effect.
I am sure you must see plenty of 'sea-traffic' on the river, well that is when you have a spare hour to take a look!😄
Have a good day, and looking forward to the survey...

P.S. your lemon cake was yummy!

Hi Christine, what lovely notebooks and all so different. Well done ladies. Bet you had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cakes too - yummy.
I tried to do the leather look technique only last week. I went on Youtube to see how it was done and what a complete disaster it turned out to be. I used the same glycerine and water method you mentioned so don't know where I went wrong. Is there a knack to it Christine or was I just simply unlucky? I was really disappointed.
I ordered my pokey tool last night and I received notification at 6.43 this morning to say that it was completed. Thank you.
Looking forward to your "survey" tomorrow too.

Morning Christine

Those container ships are huge...I used to see a lot when we were living in Hong Kong and they were stacked so high its a wonder they could still float

I love the altered notebooks, now I think a video of this project would be wonderful. They are all beautiful but I really like the design that Sandra has done

Hope you have a good day

Astonishing to see a ship sail past at the end of the road: Surreal. Beautiful notebooks and yummy cakes: What more can you ask? So pleased(though not at all surprised)the pokey tools are a runaway success. I will want one at some point - oh dear, pun not intended! I'm suitably intrigued about the survey.

Hi Christine, really enjoyed the class yesterday. It was nice to meet Janice again.
I must say, although I showed the ladies the leather look technique, the idea did come from watching Sheena on C&C. My friend, Wendy had seen it as well and had tried it out first, then showed me how easy it was to do. So a joint effort but that is what crafting with friends is all about.
Hope you get your new Kettle Christine.
Sally xx

Late today, Christine, I've been up to Northern Ireland for the day. I must remember to get some glycerine next time I'm in town, I love that leather look technique. The cakes look scrummy too.

Looks like you had a wonderful time - wish I lived closer!

I used to live near Southampton and worked in a restaurant on the waterfront. The QEII would sail into port regularly and passing by would fill all the windows - stunning! I never got tired of it.

Cakes and faux leather notebooks. A gorgeous and very satisfying combination.:) :)
I've tried the leather technique with some success but came unstuck with the sewing in of the pages.Did you do it like that or is there another way?
