It is Friday Die Day and today I'm featuring Delicate Doilies.
You receive 6 die templates in this set that you can use separately or nest together.
This is how they look cut/embossed.
As you can see they are very intricate so I would recommend waxed paper and
also if you are nesting the dies the Magnetic Placement Mats are a dream.
This week I've decided on a technique tutorial explaining selective die cutting.
It's not a tag nor a card - instead it's an envelope.
They get a little ignored in crafting so I'm helping them out a bit today!
Select an envelope of your choice.
Carefully unseal it, a craft knife is useful for this.
Obviously if you make your own envelopes you can ignore this step.
Open it out fully.
Now here it gets a little tricky but I've placed arrows on my photos to assist.
Place your die template on one of the corners of your envelope
(this is the largest inner die from Delicate Doilies - I am not using the outer shaped die)
You can see I've used waxed paper and also some removable tape (belt and braces!)
This is the image from the other side - you can see how the die overhangs the envelope.
I wanted to cut purely within the main rectangle of the envelope - not on the envelope flaps.
To do this, align the rectangular section of your envelope on the edge of your base plate.
Hoping you can see the blue of the base plate in this picture.
It should be mentioned that because the flaps and die template overhang the edge
of your base plate you are going to need Junior Plates and insert them in vertically
into your Grand Calibur.
Here you can see how it has cut just within the inner rectangle of the envelope.
Re-seal your envelope - E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips does this speedily.
And this is how your envelope looks once you've placed your card/note inside.
Isn't that nicer than a plain envelope!
To dress it up a little more I've created a For You from Labels Four,
punched a hole and inserted matching coloured twine.

Another top tip today, we will all be sending lovely envelopes now, it's so much more interesting than a plain one. Have a lovely Friday and Weekend, it's actually pooring with rain here in Norfolk this morning, but we have got off lightly here, with not too much rain so we can't complain.

I like to decorate the envelope as well if time permits, but I hadn't thought of doing that. Looks really effective, will give it a try. JuliaT x

Hi Christine. I must admit until now I´d never thought about doing anything with envelopes but what a lovely idea. I have to make a couple today as I got carried away with making two cards in strange sizes and haven´t got any envelopes to fit so I´ll be jazzing them up. They are Valentine cards so hearts here we come.
