A Tiny Survey...

Hello friends
I planned to take a photo yesterday of the High Street where my
shop is without a huge container ship cruising along the river so you could see the difference,
but...I only just remembered as I got to the car park!
Instead, you've got the view of the River Thames from the car park
which is just a stone's throw from the shop.
Yes, don't fall over in shock - that is actually a blue-ish sky!

This is how it looks mid-Winter/mid-blizzard - the river obscured by snow!
We haven't seen any white stuff here this winter -
I'm hoping it will just bypass us now and visit next year.

As mentioned yesterday I am conducting a tiny survey today.
It truly is just one question but I am keen to know your views.

The survey is in relation to stamp companies, which ones do you favour?
At the trade show in Birmingham I was astounded to see so many different stamps.
Pretty quickly I picked out the ones I liked, but running Hope and Chances
isn't about my favourite products - it is taking into account
my customers' tastes and that is why I am reaching out to you all.

Within the survey (just one question!) I have listed some well known stamp companies and also
some lesser known - there is also the option to click 'other' and state your
choice if it has not been specified.

If you click here you should go straight into the survey.
Once complete if you could click 'next' and then 'done' please -
it does not calculate statistics unless you press 'done' (Elliott stressed that!)

Once I collate the results I will begin to place orders.
I will keep you posted - it should prove really interesting.
Thank you for all your help - I value your input.

Yesterday I referred to the faux leather look technique from kraft cardstock
using glycerine and water.
There are various You Tube videos detailing this including Sheena Douglass'
which I have placed below.

Have a great Thursday and I'm back tomorrow with FDD!

Take care friends.

Morning Christine, what a beautiful picture we've had some nice days here in Newark over the last few days, not so good this morning, I can hear the rain on the window behind me from behind the curtains :( ........the white stuff has been absent here too....hopefully it'll spray away, there's been too much wet stuff I'm not sure it'd stick. Have a great day. Lynn xx

Hi Christine, I've done the survey! We had a gorgeous day yesterday here too - we keep getting a sunny day followed by a few horrible days, very confusing! I am so pleased that we haven't had any snow though and hope it stays that way! I saw Sheena Douglas do the book cover on TV and it has been on my list of to d's for weeks! Hugs Carole Z X

Hi Christine. Thank you for the picture. You are very lucky to have one job that gives you lovely views. I imagine that your London job has rather different scenery, especially if your office is in the square mile! (Sorry I'm not a fan of modern architecture !) Snow flurries have been forecast for Oxfordshire tomorrow. it has got a little colder over the last couple of days but we had a beautiful blue sky all day yesterday. So uplifting. Think we are in for a bit of winter now though : ( I'm not complaining though as we have stayed safe, warm and dry, unlike so many other poor souls over the last few months. I am off to complete your survey. One problem when you start out in card making, or any hobby for that matter, is deciding which brands and goods to buy. I find personal recommendation is by far the best way to help me decide. If you craft on a very tight budget, as I do, you really can't afford to make mistakes. I do wish we could test items though, shame we can't get tiny samples of inks, alcohol pens and papers etc. That would be so helpful. Never mind your survey results will be very interesting. Have a good day. Take care.

What a lovely view Christine. Just wanted to say I have completed the survey fine but wanted you to know that I also favour companies that are now doing a punch to match the stamp whether its a label or a flower etc.x

Morning Christine, Lovely piccies, loving the blue sky, we had a fairly nice day here too. At present I have the first half of my bedding on the line, it is blowing a little. I can cope with this type of winter, they can all keep the snow who wants it !! We have been lucky here, although my heart goes out to the people in the floods, that must be so heartbreaking, in fact my heart breaks for them !!
I have done the survey, the results will be quite interesting.
Thank you for the link to Sheena's video, I will be having a look at that now, as I sooooo loved the faux leather look.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Morning Christine
Lovely photos today, so different from one another eh! I hope on my next visit, I have some time to take a walk along the river.
We had a lovely sunny day yesterday and met friends for lunch in a pub near Leeds Castle, but this morning we have rain. It was so nice to see the daffs and crocuses out at the sides of the roads.
Have filled in your survey. Have a good day.

Hi Christine, will complete the survey later.
It is raining here today and I have heard there may be some snow on its way but hopefully not much.
With regards to the leather technique, Sheena's was the video I saw. I must have done something wrong as mine did not turn out like hers.
Have a lovely day.

Morning Christine, gorgeous photos and view. Have done the survey, but a difficult one, I prefer ready cut stamps and I prefer to pay more for an excellent quality stamp that stamps perfectly everytime. Emma x

Morning Christine. The weather here has been the same as everywhere, beautiful yesterday and warm, rain and cold today. Snow will be coming as it has returned to Barrie, Ontario and we always get their weather a couple of weeks later. The forecast says it's coming but they can't say where yet! Anyway, have completed the survey. I have been a customer of Anna Marie Designs for quite a few years and buy direct from her that's the only reason I haven't ticked her. Most of the others I don't know anything about. Creative Expressions, who are not on the list, are now doing a lot of singles stamps which come already mounted and are not too expensive. There are often matching dies. It will be interesting to see the results of the survey but I would also like to see some other dies on the website, especially those that match the stamps. Have a lovely day. Gemma xx

I was surprised at yesterday's view, you are very lucky not to have had any floods, being so close to the water, but a lovely place to have a shop.

I don't necessarily go for a particular maker of stamps (though I am very fond of Clarity stamps) but I definitely prefer clear ones, rather than the rubber versions. Hope that helps.

Have filled in the survey, I am quite new to stamping so don't have a lot of experience and hadn't heard of all of the stamp ranges. Beautiful pictures today will be watching the video later x

Beautiful pictures. Snow looks fantastic in a photo, just as long as it doesn't become reality!
Would love to help in your survey, but I've had a quick review of my own stamps and can't pick a favourite brand. I usually buy according to 'subject' so could be any manufacturer really.
I have Artemio, Woodware, Kanban Stampendous, Justrite, Papermania, Crafty Individuals, Tim Holtz and Creative Expressions (among others). Some are wood-mounted, but most are clear acrylic or photopolymer. Having tried a few I'm really not keen on un-mounted stamps. Hope this info is of interest if not at all helpful!
