Tuesday Tip/Technique

Hello friends
It's Tuesday Tip/Technique today and here is something very different!
I need to thank Kim Hupke, Education Director at Spellbinders for this tip.
Most shops and supermarkets now have candy canes in stock, the minty ones are lovely.
For today's tip you need candy canes and your Grand Calibur....
Place a candy cane inside a zip lock bag, you may want to use a double thickness of bags.
Do not seal completely, allow for air to escape.
Sandwich your candy cane in a bag between A Base Plate and Raspberry Adapter Plate.
Run through your Grand Calibur - just once is enough!
 It's crushed!
Now empty into an airtight jar/container and decorate.
I've used Snowflake Bliss, Sprigs and Scalloped Labels One.
Use Candy Cane Sprinkles on ice cream, fairy cake icing and more.
This week I've promised to make Elliott chocolate chip muffins with Candy Cane Sprinkles -
photos to follow.

Have a lovely day, it's rather nippy but so glad to see the rain gone!
Take care friends.

  1. what a lovely idea. I've never thought of using the Calibur as a crushing machine - it would save a lot of time bashing with a rolling pin. Wonder if you could flatten meat into escalopes the same way?

  2. Morning Christine
What a great idea and makes a lovely decoration on it's own if you didn't want to use the sprinkles! Your comment made me chuckle Jane 😄
We're moving house tomorrow and not sure when we'll have a broadband connection, so I may be away a little while, but will pop in as soon as I can.
    Enjoy your day.

  3. Hi Christine
What a fantastic idea. Need to give it a go. Wonder if it would work with digestive biscuits for the base of a cheesecake. Might have to give it a go.

  14. Morning Christine, Brrrrrrrr !! it's really cold here too, I've just been outside wiping down the window ledges after the window cleaner has been, and I'm positively frrrrreeeeezing !!
This is a fabulous tip, and I can see the sprinkles can be used for various deserts too. I'm loving your embellished jar, it looks scrumptuous.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  21. Hi Christine. You have done it again! What a great idea, we always have some candy canes left after Christmas and I never knew what to do with them. I will be buying extra from now on, for us and to make some lovely decorated jars as gifts. Like the others my mind is now thinking crushed biscuits etc. (Michele-as long as the food stuff is in bags it will be fine : )) I'm sure Elliott will enjoy his dessert. Take care.

  23. Great idea, but I've never seen candy canes here for sale. BUT I expect I could soon get Smarties sprinkles, or whizz digestive biscuits in for crumbles. Why didn't I think of that?
