Tuesday Tip/Technique

Hello friends

I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday.
We are back from Coventry and today further celebrations for
Elliott's birthday - the whole family coming over for a dinner tonight.

Today's tip/technique is using rub-ons with your Grand Calibur and die cuts.
Do you have a stock of them languishing in a box/drawer somewhere?
Do you have a surplus of the lolly sticks that come with them??
Here is a different idea to apply your rub-ons.
Position your desired design onto cardstock.
As opposed to using the traditional lolly stick to transfer the image, create your
cutting sandwich for the Grand Calibur with a piece of extra card for a shim.
Run it through the machine and your image will transfer,
you can then use your patterned card to die cut hearts and more.
Easy peasy and I personally think a lot quicker.
I have noticed that rub-on quality varies from company to company
so have a rummage through yours to find the best ones.

Take care friends and thank you for stopping by each time.

  1. Morning Christine, I find that the lolly stick distorts the cards, you can see where the 'rubbing' has been done, this looks a lot better, shall definitely try thus out. Have a great day...... Lynn xx

A great tip, I don't have any rub ons, but this looks like a better technique to use than lolly sticks. Enjoy your family meal tonight.

  16. Morning Christine, I haven't ever used rub-on as I always felt that using a lolly stick to rub them onto the card would leave marks on the card - but using the GC would certainly be a better way of doing it. Glad you had a good day yesterday. Enjoy the family meal tonight...hope Dad is feeling better now. Janice xx

  17. Hello Christine. Thanks for today's tip. I had problems with rub on's last week _ will try this technique out soon. Having stored rub one for a long time may be the problem but who knows the new technique may just be the answer

Glad you had a good weekend. Birthday wishes to Elliott and happy family evening

    Good wishes

  24. Wow, a brilliant tip. I have some faux stitch rub-ons that have been languishing for years. I will have to try this technique for transferring them. It sure beats all that rubbing!
