Emboss/Deboss?

Hello friends
Thank you for all the brilliant comments yesterday.
I'm afraid I do not have a set of Gold Labels Four to give away ...
(some followers thought perhaps I had),
but please keep your eyes peeled as I do have more giveaways coming up.

I received a few comments and emails asking the difference between emboss and deboss.
Hopefully I can clarify.....
Debossing is the reverse of embossing.
With traditional embossing the pattern impression is pushed upwards into the paper/card.
With debossing the impression is downwards.  With the new Imperial Gold dies
you get a mixture of both emboss and deboss - up and down!
The tag and butterflies returned yesterday..I have missed them.
In fact I thought I would go back through my photo files and find something else butterfly-ish to share today.
(What I'm really trying to do is encourage Spring to arrive!)
I think this tag ticks all the boxes.
Using Les Papillions - the die on its own initially to create an emboss into the stamped tag.
and then the die cuts placed over the top.
I'm struggling to decide which butterflies I like the most Les Papillions or Les Papillions Two -
actually I cannot decide - I like them both equally.
Those little flowers and leaves from Homespun have appeared again too.

I hope the sun is shining where you are today - have a lovely Saturday.
Take care.

  1. Hi Christine, well it would not be a tag or card by you without a butterfly somewhere, lovely. Have a great weekend although I believe you will be busy.

Great tag, I have these butterflies too and they end up on nearly every card I make (not man cards though) although there's always a first.

  11. Hi Christine

This is a gorgeous tag as always, the butterflies are stunning!
Wonder if you can help please? Is there a way to search your blog for a particular project by any chance? I was wanting to find your shopping lists you've made in the past. No worries if not, but just wondering if I'm missing something obvious!

    Have a lovely day.

  21. Hi Christine, Wow, we had a bit of sunshine this afternoon, and now the heavens have opened and it is throwing it down.
Loving the colours on your tag, uplifting, loving both sets of Les Papillon butterflies, I have both dies.
I have been creating a 60th birthday card for a work colleague, this afternoon, not finished yet, used the botanical swirls and accents and will be using les papillon too.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
