Friday Die Day

Hello friends

This week's Friday Die Day features one of the Flower Garden Collection dies,
I think this is such a sweet die set with the additional wing,
flowers and leaves.
It is definitely Spring-like.

The approximate measurements are:

Leaves: 0.30 x 0.45 in. 0.70 x 1.30 cm
Small Flower: 0.50 x 0.45 in. 1.20 x 1.10 cm
Large Flower: 0.65 x 0.61 in. 1.60 x 1.60 cm
Strip: 0.70 x 0.11 in. 1.70 x 0.30 cm
Wing: 1.45 x 0.40 in. 3.60 x 1.00 cm
Bird: 3.50 x 1.95 in. 8.90 x 4.90 cm

I'm cheating a little bit as this is one of the projects I
created on telly!

I've used watercolour card to die cut each piece and set about painting.
These are Cosmic Shimmer iridescent pastel watercolour paints
and I'm also using a waterbrush.
I am definitely not a painter but finding that using watercolour paints
doesn't require absolute accuracy, I like the 'washy' effect.

I applied a couple of coats on the flowers.

Instead of a card I thought I would make a decorated notebook.
I found some scrap gingham patterned paper and thought this would work
well for the background, a little 'home sweet home-ish'.

I cut two pieces of patterned paper to fit back and front,
keeping the black band.

I put in place the flowers and bird wing.
Added little pearls to finish.

The finished notebook.

It makes a lovely gift although truthfully, I'm keeping this project.
I really rather like it!

Bird on Cherry Branch is available on the website here and
the whole Flower Garden Collection can be found here.

Take care friends, are you doing something nice this weekend?

  1. Hi Christine
Lovely project, it makes such a difference when you decorate and personalise notebooks, and that is such a sweet die. I think I may need to get the water colour paints after seeing your demo. It may make my colouring look a little better than using pens. Received my lovely Charity Kit yesterday, thank you, such a sweet bag and love the flower, another one for the collection I think!!
    Have a good day
