Hello friends
A quick fabric flower tutorial today.
I was shopping in The Range to buy a barbecue but found myself in the craft section
and discovered they sell packs of linen craft sheets. They measure 15cm square,
6 sheets to a pack and only £1.50!
Not a huge choice in designs, this flower one and hearts but a bargain nonetheless.
As soon as I was in my cabin I grabbed Classic Scalloped Circles LG
and began die cutting. It cut beautifully through my Grand Calibur.
I kept cutting!
When I had enough pieces in varying sizes I folded each one into a quarter to find the middle,
cut to that point.
I then overlapped the fabric by a small section to create a sort of cup.
Fabri-Tac glued it instantly.
The finishing touch, a button for the middle.
These came free with a magazine some time ago.
The finished flower, would look great on a bag, hat, decorate a gift.
Mine is being attached to the top of my 'travelling' Grand Calibur!
My next demo date is Saturday 18 July at Keep on Crafting in Bury St Edmunds.
The tour list is here.
Both Classic Scalloped Circles LG and Fabri Tac are available on the website.
Oh yes...
I did buy a barbecue and we had our first one of the year last night,
as usual I ate more than my own body weight in rather blackened meat and
thoroughly enjoyed it!
Take care friends.
You were easily distracted, when did they put fabric next to BBQ things?
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric though, and linen does cut well with a die.
Makes a great flower. This would look lovely on a T shirt.
Cheers

Morning Christine, These linen craft sheets look lovely, ideal for flowers as you have demonstrated, also ideal for a sewer for applique on quilts etc too.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at Janice's write-up above, I think we must all have a 'craft' implant in us that draws us to crafting goodies hahaha.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Lovely Christine and i think it would look nice with the edges frayed too, xxx
ReplyDeleteHello Christine
ReplyDeleteThe Linen looks lovely ...cover a Lampshade maybe?
I don't know if they do online but I would love it!
Take care

Great project, I was just on The Range this morning & saw they had started to put Christmas craft stuff out! The flowers would look great on a plain canvas bag.

What a fab fabric embellishment. I tried to cut some fabric with my GC a long time ago - not successful. Maybe the wrong sort of material. I should try again.
ReplyDeleteWow that's very pretty Christine - what a good idea.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your barbecue.
Hi Christine
ReplyDeleteI always think if I pass I craft shop it would be rude not to pop in for a visit! So I would have called in too.
I have cut felt with my dies and grand Calibur but never fabric. I must give this a try.
Enjoy the rest of your day
Lesley
Lovely idea Is it fabric or is it card/paper with a linen feel? Don't have Range very close but when I get the chance I will be on the look out If fabric I'm thinking bags, cushions all sorts

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteLast Christmas, or maybe the one before, I bought a pack of fabric coated card from The Range, which had a variety of red and white Scandinavian designs on. Some of the designs were suitable all year round, ie hearts and a geometric design.

Beautiful creation Christine, love it.
