How was your Easter?
Mine went by in a flash but pleased to say the Spring cleaning was
a success, I now have quite empty cupboards!
Today I'm repeating a previous Tuesday tip because I've discovered lots of crafters
may still not be aware of this one.
Since I've started demoing I've been chatting about this tip and I promised to
show it again on my blog so here goes...
Do you suffer from a mucky squidgy mat (aka tan embossing mat)??
(If you stumbled across this blog and you do not craft you might wonder
what I'm talking about!)
But for those of you with a Grand Calibur or Artisan X-Plorer you know what I mean.
So often bits of paper, glitter and dust gets attracted to the static of the mat.
Here is a handy tip....
Take your mucky squidgy mat and a roll of parcel tape.

Take your mucky squidgy mat and a roll of parcel tape.
Place strips of parcel tape along your squidgy mat.
Create your embossing sandwich, base plate, squidgy mat with tape and pink embossing plate.
Run through the machine.
No need to use a shim and only run through once.

Peel back the parcel tape....
and pretty much all of the glitter and bits are off the mat and stuck to the tape!
I used a cheap parcel tape because it is a little thinner.
If you are a little unsure about your tape test a small area first.

ReplyDeleteEvery time you open a kitchen cupboard you can enjoy the results of your hard work. One day I will get around to getting rid of some of the stuff we haven't used for years, rather than keeping it "just in case"! Take care xx

ReplyDeleteThis is a great tip which I have used on my 'no more shims' mat for my Cuttlebug. I've yet to give it a try on my eBosser mat.
Glad you got empty cupboards now, I'm sure it won't be too long before they start filling up!

I have the small plate set, and the tan mat is hopeless, it won't let go of the paper even if I use Anti static or tumble dryer sheets on it, any tips please?

ReplyDeleteI always used to wash my tan wash in warm soapy water, then use baby powder or other talc to dust it with. Take the mat outside for this process and shake well and even use a towel to remove excess powder and I never have problems after with static and it smells lovely when your cutting and embossing. Am going to try your new idea though, it sounds good.

Morning Christine, A fabulous tip, and really gets most of the 'stuff' off hahaha, also dusting your newly 'de-stuffed' mat with talcum prevents the static too.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip. I'm off to get some cheap parcel tape. Wish I had a clear out fairy. My house and shed is full of just in case rubbish that my partner is keeping.
Great tip I did not know about this one I have washed mine in the past but it doesn't quite get rid of all of the bits Now where's that tape my husband has hoarded away somewhere?

ReplyDeleteWhat a clever tip for a quick clean-up. I've recently managed to get a new cut 'n boss so the mat is pristine but my old one could really use a clean up, so I'll give it a try :)
