Now I've got you all captive... here are Mitchell's birthday photos!
A few gifts to open in the morning...
that is a box of Japanese 'Happy Birthday' Oreo biscuits!

We then hopped on the train to London town.
At King's Cross I took a look in the Harry Potter shop.
We then ventured to all the geeky shops, including Cyber Candy.
We had cocktails with lunch...
A bit more shopping - browsing in Fortnum and Mason.
Checking out the tea selection...quite a few to choose from!

Our evening meal...it really was dinner theatre!
They sang Happy Birthday to Mitchell - he was just a tad embarrassed!
All in all a fun day, with rather the emphasis on food and drink!
Happy memories.
Next up, as promised here is the recipe for the chocolate chip cookies.
They are more crumbly and like shortbread in texture as opposed to
American style chewy cookies.
Ingredients:
50g butter
125g caster sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla extract
125g plain flour
75g self raising flour
200g chocolate drops (I prefer plain)
A little milk (optional)
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla gradually.
Sift in the two flours and fold in the chocolate drops.
You have two options here: if your mixture is firm and dough like,
you can roll out into a long sausage shape and slice. You can also wrap in cling film
and chill until ready to use (they freeze well uncooked too).
Next option: if your mixture is quite dry and you've added milk, roll into dough balls
and flatten to make cookies.
Heat oven to 220 degrees. Place cookies onto lined baking tray.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until just starting to turn golden.
Leave on the tray for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely
(this never happens in my home, they get eaten literally as they come out of the oven!)
Pop back tomorrow for some craft...Tuesday Tip/Technique.
Take care friends.
Take care friends.
Hi All.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a lovely time, take care all Kitty.
Hi Christine. What lovely photos of Mitchell on is special day, and great to see Elliott and you too. It looks like a good time was had by all : )
ReplyDeleteWill have to give these cookies a try, they look delicious. No one in our house understands "leave to cool completely" either! I must admit I am one of the worst offenders as cookies and cakes taste so much better when they are still warm though don't they : )
Sorry, hit publish before I had finished! Please stay warm and safe. Take care.
