Tuesday Tip/Technique

Hello friends
Getting back into the swing of things now.
Today I have a class - Introduction to Spellbinders, I really enjoy these
as mostly they are crafters who are completely new to Spellbinders and die cutting -
they have no idea what a wonderful creative world they are about to step into!
I will share with you the intro projects soon.

Back to today - a Tuesday tip.
How about not die cutting with your dies!
Instead use them for embossing only.
Position your dies - I've chosen a tag (no surprise there!)
 Use the embossing sandwich only.
And hey presto - a beautifully butterfly embossed tag.
You can then go on to decorate or perhaps use this technique with envelopes -
matching the dies you've used on a card.

If you like butterflies (who doesn't??) take a look at the new
Flutters - all the details are here.
Take care friends - winner of the giveaway is being announced soon,
last chance to leave a comment if you haven't already done so!

  1. Good morning Christine. Great tip. Sometimes we overlook the embossing power of our dies. I will definitely give this a try.

  6. Morning Christine,
I have tried this a few times but the dies always seem to cut in a few places, this spoils the effect, any tips how I can overcome this.
Lovely butterfly die. Hope you have a great class, looking forward to seeing thee projects.

  7. Don't think I've missed a comment yet Christine, does that mean I have more chances to win? LOL.

After all this time, I still have not tried embossing my dies, which is very remiss of me. I have two more borders on my quilt to finish (taken me 2.5 years and I'm determined to finish in the next month) then I will be free to play with all my crafty goodies.

  11. Hello Christine
I love the new Flutters, and use them to match the Blossoms 3, in floral paper.... then stuck on to Linen card.
They look lovely with little pearls in the middle !
To be just introduced to Spellbinders..... would be amazing!
Now there are so many shapes to choose from.
Have a lovely time with your class, Christine!
    Take Care

  13. Hi Christine. Thank you for the reminder to use our dies to emboss.
I'm sure you will have a lovely time today. I will be ironing and then crafting to try to take my mind off of our daughter, Gemma, who has a 2nd interview with a big accountancy firm AND her driving test this morning! Fingers are firmly crossed : ) Take care.

  22. Wow...what a fight to get onto the comments page...I think my laptop is rebelling! Christine, I adore butterflies and owls, so I certainly want to try to just emboss with my butterfly dies and hope not to cut through lol. I wish I was on the right side of the country to join your classes, but alas I'm in Cornwall. I'll do the next best thing and follow your blog instructions.xx

  23. I love to emboss on my cards. You could say it's my technique of choice at the moment, but I'm not very ambitious with it! The butterflies do look good.
