Nothing like a good book!

Hello friends,
Following yesterday's post and to answer a few questions:
absolutely fine to send in photos of family pets, neighbours etc - it is a gallery that will feature all pets wherever they may be!
With regard to the chocolate wrapper, I remove the original wrapper and use it as a stencil as opposed to covering it.
Back to today - a book!  I'm truly in crafting heaven when I'm creating note books, I wonder whether
it is because it is a useful project...I'm quite a practical girl at heart!
This is using various dies including Creative Book Pages, Layered Poinsettia,
Yesterday Amanda asked if I could provide more details on how to make my projects -
not a problem...I will try to do this as much as I can.

For this book I used Cosmo Cricket - Odds and Ends papers.  To make the book covers,
I used the postage style Creative Book Pages die.   I cut a few layers of cereal box
and then the patterned paper.  Adhered it all together and left it to dry.
While waiting, I cut plenty of inner pages and created the poinsettias just using the two smaller dies, layered them up and gave them a crystal gem middle.   The pretty rosebud label is created from
one of the Creative Book Pages dies, again I cut it from some cereal box and patterned paper.
The sentiment is stamped onto Labels Twenty Two and inked the edges slightly with Antique Linen.
Once my book covers were dry I used a Bind It All machine to create the book spine.
I stamped the cover just once with a script stamp (more back in stock in my Amazon Shop soon!)
Cut/embossed two of the Lace Doily Accents, just using the long border style die but placed
them back to back.  Assembled my cover and then decided it was too nice to give away...
It is currently on display in my studio!

I think the message from this tutorial is a Bind It All is brilliant if you love making books and you
should eat lots of cereal for the packaging as it's jolly useful to add thickness to your die cuts!

I promised I would let you all know whether I had any Advent Frames to purchase on their own...
I've done my calculations and I do have some available to buy.
Please note it is just the wooden frame, no pre-cut boxes will be included.
Perfect if you have your own box die.
The cost is £18.00 inclusive of postage.
You can email me to purchase or click on the 'Kits and Bits' button on my sidebar,
there is a PayPal button there...oh please Gremlin let's hope you've not found that to play with!

I'm back tomorrow...most definitely for Friday Die Day!
Take care friends.

  13. OOh...I love this book. So much that I have started looking at the bind it all machine.! Can you tell me how many blank pages do you put into each book? And also do you have to buy the binding ring strips of different lengths or does the machine cut the extra bits off?

I think it is a really good idea to add details of the bits and pieces that you use so thank you for that.

    have a great day

  17. Hi Christine - this is gorgeous and if I had made it I couldn't give it away or use it!! I would just have to keep looking at it and stroking it! Sad or what?? Love the papers used here. I recently bought some notebooks so that I could cover the fronts - I don't have a bind it all machine and can't really justify buying one (for once). I think I could make them look quite nice with some papers/embellishments. Time -will tell - lol!

  18. Hi Christine,
Just love what you have done to the note book. I found myself looking at the plain one's in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago after you put one on the blogg. I'm thinking they will make good tree gifts this Christmas.

I really like this note book, and thank you so much for the details of how you made it. Love the papers and elements you have used too. Makes such a lovely gift, but I'm concentrating on making the shopping pad ones, ESP as I don't have a bind it machine!
    Looking forward to tomorrow's FDD!
    Hope you are well.
