Friday Die Day

Hello friends
Wow didn't that week go fast!  FDD comes around so quickly.
This week I'm hoping to impress you with Impressabilities®!
So what are they??
They are flexible metal templates for embossing.
They come in two sizes 5.5 x 4.5 and also in Grand size measuring 8 x 11 - fantastic for boxes.
I've chosen one of the smaller ones to demonstrate with this Friday - Flowers
The sandwich is A Base Plate, your Impressabilities, cardstock/paper,
tan embossing mat and B Embossing Plate.
 Looks lovely doesn't it...
There are other uses for your Impressabilities.
Use them as a stencil, just rub over gently with some distress ink.

The result is soft and pretty.
You can also apply ink straight onto your Impressabilities, place your cardstock on top, run through with the correct sandwich to create the letter press technique.
 I really like this...
I don't want you all to be too shocked but I'm not making a tag this week!!
It's going to be a little box instead - Square Bracket Edge Box
This is the lid.
The box base is cut from plain dark pink cardstock.
Fold along the embossed lines, make the creases sharp with a bone folder and apply adhesive to the tabs.
 The box assembled.
The lid seems to need a little something extra...I know - a butterfly!
Les Papillions - an intricate die but easy to remove when using waxed paper.
 The finished box.
Not too fussy or busy but I can see an array of these on a dinner/party table.
Thank you for all your support with Friday Die Days.
Don't forget if there are particular dies that you would like to see featured, just drop me an email.
Talking of emails - Sue asked me for my email address yesterday,
here it is:  christine.emberson@blueyonder.co.uk
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

  5. I have one of the large ones and have only used it once with a really poor result. I don't have a Grand Calibur I have a Cuttlebug and Big Shot Pro so maybe I am using the wrong sandwich but not sure which I should use. Your example is stunning as always so I really must have another go! xx

  16. Thanks for the in-depth tutorial. I don't have any impressabilities, but for choice I'd prefer this method over using embossing folders.

  29. Hi Christine, I want to thank you for introducing me to impressabilities a while ago. I just love them. I was finding it hard to find masks with small patterns so was making my own. However, I couldn't get anywhere near the fine detail of the impressabilities or the incredible designs. The butterflies is my favourite, followed by the paisley.
My tip when embossing is to thoroughly coat the embossing mat & die with talc to reduce sticking & to slide a knife blade underneath to slowly lift it.

  30. Thank you, Christine. I have the Sea Shells Impressabilities and it is so detailed. I'll dig it out now and have another go.
