Hello friends,
Friday here and I think we've come to know what that means...
yes it's Die-Day. Today, upon Susan Flynn's request, I am featuring Aster Flower Topper.
With this lovely flower you receive four dies.
This is how they look cut and embossed.
Once you remove them from the die template, tweak the inner leave sections upwards.
To avoid squashing those leaves down, use foam pads to stack them, this allows extra space.
This is one stacked with foam pads, I reckon there's plenty of tweaking I could still do! |
A side shot of the pretty flower...
Now for some different ideas with this die template....
try creating the flower from old book pages...
Stencilling through the die with distress ink...
Stacking with foam pads...now if I had paid more attention to my book pages I'm sure I could have selected nicer wording...! Thank you Mr Charles Dickens...! |
Another idea to alter your Aster Flower is to spritz it with mist, I've chosen blue to start with...
Adding red..because it looked a little too blue!
I get carried away with misting...
I get carried away with misting...
When dry you get to see the pretty glimmer.
And how about stacking a Bauble Blossom on top...
very red, white and blue!
There is something so satisfying about creating your own flower embellishments and, as mentioned before, paper is just the start...try other mediums, felt, fabric, acetate, cork and more...
Thank you all for popping by for my Die-Days..I'm really enjoying putting these together.
Remember to mention/email me any die requests for Friday Die-Day,
I'm making notes and I promise to get to them all.
I'm making notes and I promise to get to them all.
Take care friends.

Fabulous tutorial, thank you. I have several old books to use for craft - I must choose the wording carefully - a couple are old crime books! (they are falling to pieces otherwise I wouldn't use them for craft, I would have passed them on) xx
ReplyDeleteAnother fab tutorial. It's really helpful to see these dies cut out Christine. Thanks also for the inspiration. But not sure I can forgive you for cutting out pages from a Dickens classic lol!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Christine, it is so interesting to see how many different ways to use the dies and despite the Dickens wording that flower is my favourite. This morning I opened up my new copy of Cardmaking & Papercraft and there you were again! Love your Father's Day ideas and thanks so much for the visit, much appreciated. Crafty hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, Love the flowers, especially the one made from the old book. It's amazing how many flowers you can get out of a small paperback. To start with I felt guilty that I wasn't taking so many books into my local charity shop for re-sale. But then I found out that many of the old books were not selling well & were ending up at the recycling plant anyway. Now they get a 2nd lease of life before the card recipients recycle them.
ReplyDeleteWow, another set of dies from the C & C POTW.... loving the inspiration. Thank you Lynn xx
ReplyDeleteLove these dies Christine and the Friday tutorials are brilliant. Thanks a bunch for some great inspiration.

Hi Christine, I love the way you've done different things with these dies..:) As others have said, it's great to see them cut and get an idea of what they look like out of the die...Enjoy your day...xx
ReplyDeleteCool tutorial, Christine!!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine,

Hi Christine, a bit later today, but thanks for the great demo, this is really a great showcase for the dies. The samples are fantastic, I never realised the aster flower could be so 3D. Some great ideas for colouring and usuing different mediums. Thanks for the great inspiration.

An excellent tutorial as per usual Christine. These are dies that have to go on my wish list. Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I've just purchased the Aster Flower dies and I had'nt thought of '3D'ing' them, so was thrilled to find you had used them for Die Friday today. Love the idea of using print, very vintage/shabby chic. I'm going to leave out the center (daisy style)die and add vintage buttons to mine instead! Lol, Carolynx
ReplyDeleteI do like those asters - may have to add them to my wish list!
ReplyDeleteI do like flower dies.I did have another go with the bauble dies...
this is how they came out...

Thanks for your inspiration.
Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteLovely idea with the dies, I adore spritzing for adding extra pizzaz and colour layering is fabulous for creating extra depth and lots of definition isn't it.
Hugs Linda x
This is my all time favourite flower from spellbinders, totally gorgeous.
