Classic Triple Scallop Edgeabilities®, bow, pins and butterflies.
And here is a version very simplified for a different occasion.
So yes, a sympathy card - one of the more difficult cards to make. I've sat at my craft desk many times wondering what colours or designs are suitable. Dark colours just seem extra sad.
But for me, the designing become less worrying and more achievable if I take a version of a card I like
and remove some of the embellishments.

ReplyDeleteLoving the designs today. White with a splash of colour is so elegant. As for the roast.....surely it has to be Crumble for dessert...apple and blackberry, rhubarb, peach, apricot.............whatever.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card I do find these cards hard to do and I have done loads recently .As for pudding a crumble for me I have loads of rhubarb at the moment so thats my pud .Melanie

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards. Sympathy cards are so difficult to make and the colours are unusual but it works.
What about a trifle, thats what we are having.

hi Christine, you are so right sympathy cards can be tricky, but I think you have hit the spot here. this card is so elegant, but not too fussy, I love it. As for dessert, if i wasn't on a diet it would be cheesecake for me! How about letting the boys choose!

It's very difficult to choose colours on a card for such a sad occasion but I think you have done well I really like it. x.

ReplyDeleteI love the way you have adapted the card to use as a sympathy one. I tend to have two styles, plain/pretty (although I have done cute today)and grunge/steampunky and not sure which I like the best to be honest! Chicken dinner today with some added yorkshire puds, yum. Enjoy the rest of your day Christine.

ReplyDeleteHi Christine 2 lovely cards and you have a great idea for a sympathy card ,it is as you say the most difficult,I use sometimes a lilly of the vally and most times I use a dark lilac card,which works well,unfortunally I seem to be making so many of them over the last few months.After seeing your card the embossing is a great idea thanks

ReplyDeleteI really do like both versions of the card today. Your version of the sympathy is definitely on my list to do especially that I have the die's. We are having stew and dumplings today as I think it is that sort of weather for it. Not having a pud today but I would agree with the rhubarb crumble idea.

Lovely simple card Christine. Just came at the right time for me. I have, unfortunately, to make three sympathy cards tomorrow. As you so rightly say they are the most difficult to make but your inspiration has made my task so much easier. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteI love both of the versions of that card, simple and beautiful, its the sort of card you could have made ready and embellish for any occasion, not that I am ever that organised! I don't have a theme as such, I try and match the card to the recipient (the fav colours etc), I don't think you can go wrong when you have spellbinders to hand. I would like to add that mine are almost all very organised!
Pudding would be my husband's Sticky Toffee Pudding, absolutely delicious. Hope you enjoyed your lovely roast!

ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't come by yesterday and earlier today. My son went back to University today and we were so busy yesterday, I was behind with everything. I got home totally shattered today, so am trying to catch up as I recuperate.
I loved the original version of this card, CAS and stunning. The second one is perfect and I agree with you, sympathy cards should not be dark and miserable. I think we need to pass our thoughts with a little lift and your card definitely does that. I am like you at times, I have made a card and loved it so much I have had to recreated it but always by swapping or omitting something.
