Hello friends

How is your weekend going?

I must say mine isn't quite going to plan but life is like that sometimes!

I was due to have my bathroom roof fixed yesterday, lifting a few 

tiles, replacing the felt and hey pretso done.  But that didn't quite happen,

turns out the roof was really bad so it all had to be replaced.

So as my parents used to say 'it's bread and dripping for a while'! 

(Does anyone else say that?)

Today's post is very different for me,

it's a mixed media tag created at the retreat I attended recently.

I'm really noticing that mixed media is taking off again

here in the UK, is it your cup of tea?

To be fair mine isn't very mixed media, by other peoples'

standards I'm still keeping it relatively 'clean' but I did dabble

with stencils, pastes, paint and clay - that gold embellishment

was moulded and then gilded - I was craving gloves though! :) 

The flowers are fussy cut but I would personally like die cut 

ones on there for more dimension.

So its a work in progress aka I'll finish it possibly 2025!

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

It's Friday Die Day and this week I'm featuring 

Layered Thinking of You Woodland Scene.

This is one of the Shadow Box Collection dies.

Designed to place inside the shadow boxes and also 

works with the 3D Vignette dies for example, Grand Arch.

I'm featuring it on its own today as card feature, it works brilliantly!
This is good news for all the other Layered designs too.

So starting with a piece of card/patterned paper.
I've used a piece of scrapbook 12 x 12 and cut to the desired card height.
I then scored at 4" and 8".
Starting with the first panel tape down the deer insert and die cut.

Flip the card over and tape the woodland insert die in place.

The additional die cuts are Thinking of You insert die cut in both ivory and gold,

Woodland cut in grey and Deer cut in kraft.

I've used the outer frame die along with the insert die to create these.

You can see I've done a little bit of inking.

I've affixed the grey Woodland die cut over the insert die cut.

Same with the Deer die cut.

You can see I skimped with card on the right hand side,

I knew it would not matter as I'm overlaying more die cuts!

And here's the front with all the layers in place.

Folded so you can see the Woodland die cut behind.

And it wouldn't be one of my cards unless I added little flowers!

Oh yes...it's a Rainbow

Hello friends

Today's card is a venture into Distress Oxides to create a rainbow.

It possibly didn't start off that way until I stepped back and thought...

oh yes that looks like a rainbow! 

Keeping it simple with an embossed ivory card base,

matted gold foil card and then foiling Congratulations onto the inked background.

With the hot foiling you have the option of inking before or after

as the foil acts as a resist.

This card was far easier for Mitchell to photograph!

The Nightmare Card!

Hello friends

Today's card became known as 'Mitchell's nightmare card' -

the reason being it was very difficult to photograph.

He really dreads me using mirror card but I love it! 

After many attempts he finally got it, it barely shows his reflection.

Along with all that mirror card I've used the hot foil plate

Cartouche, die cut to a circle to place in the middle of 

this stunning die by Becca - Graceful Doily.

The addition of mini poinsettias and leaves along with the tartan

strip of patterned paper gives it a festive feel.

It's all been quite hectic since I got back from my travels with Becca,
