Friday Die Day

Hello friends

If the magic of Blogger scheduling is behaving this should go live on Friday!  

I prepared a Friday Die Day before we left for Germany.

This week it is Build A Tag Two - one of the Spellbinders® Celebra'tions™ Line
(a few weeks ago we had Build A Tag One).
It is a total of 4 die templates - two different edges and two inset pieces that can
be interchangeable.

The sizes are:
Tag Dot Inset – 1⅞ x 2⅞”
Mini ScallopedTag – 2 x 3”
Tag Stripe Inset – 1⅞ x 2⅞
Scalloped Tag – 2¼ x 3¼”

This is how they look cut/embossed (and it is DEEP embossing!)

A clean and simple card today, white linen cardstock with some patterned paper.

Both tags with a hole punched and some twine.

Mounted onto the card with 3D Foam Squares.

A little strip of striped paper across the bottom of the tag and a

stamped 'Happy Birthday'.

And a flower...couldn't resist a flower and Blooms Three is another favourite of mine.

Did I mention how deep the embossing is?  It is really lovely.

Hello friends

Some time back I mentioned that Make A Wish Charity visited Elliott

and they granted his wish to visit Cologne, Germany for a computer gaming convention!

The time has come for us to go!

We are flying out tomorrow and returning next week so blog posts may be a little

erratic but please continue to stop by as I hope to post from Germany.

I'm not quite sure what to do with myself while the boys are in seventh

heaven with a ton of computers and games but I've heard some wonderful things about

the City of Cologne so I may be trekking off for a little tour and hopefully shopping.

Elliott is beyond excited about this trip and I am in awe of how amazing

Make A Wish have been to us, we have a huge pack of papers and mystery
envelopes to hand to people - one of the first being the flight crew...!

Before we go I wanted to share a scrapbook page with you,
I've got a few pages featured in this month's Scrapbook Magazine using their
free papers.  This one features Elliott when he was a little younger.
A 'tile effect' page and this style works well when the papers are bright and busy
(or when you are running out of papers and using scraps!)
Don't forget you can apply the same design to cards too.

Tuesday Tip/Technique

Hello friends

Time for Tuesday Tip/Technique and today we are seeing what else we can die cut.

How about shrink plastic??

For those of you that haven't used shrink plastic I can guarantee it takes you back to being a kid, I used to shrink crisp packets in the oven...do any of you remember doing that?

I've stamped onto the shrink plastic using a script stamp and StazOn ink.

  I then used a heart and tag shape die - the shrink plastic cuts perfectly in your Grand Calibur™ 

 Use a heat gun (mind your fingers!) apply heat to the shape, it takes on a life of its own,

curls, twists and just at the point when you think..."oh this hasn't worked!" ....

 It flattens.  

You then have a tiny hard plastic shape which you can use as an embellishment on cards,

scrapbook pages, jewellery and more.

Tip: if you want a hole in your plastic shape, punch one before you shrink!

 Within the kit is everything you need to decorate your frame but of course you 

can change/personalise it.

Time to open another door...

Hello friends

Today featuring another project using Edwardian Door.
I love this die!
If I get myself organised I'm thinking this would be great die to use
for my Christmas cards, a red door and perhaps with Holly Wreath on the front. 

Okay..I'm digressing - back to today's card!
I created the background using strips of cardstock edged in white ink,
overlaid to look like weatherboard.
(Exactly the same technique I used for my birdhouse project here).
I then cut/embossed Edwardian Door from white cardstock and inserted some
patterned vellum behind the window section.  A brass brad makes the door handle. 
The plant pot outside is one of the herb pots - Sage is available here.

Diane's crafty space was featured yesterday and she mentioned a really useful way
of keeping track of what dies she owns, it is an app called Snupps.
It enables you to photograph them and place them on a virtual shelf
so you can access them when you are out and about shopping etc.
It's not just for cataloguing dies but anything of value in your life but I
think dies rank pretty highly!

Look out for August's Charity Kit - it's nearly ready to roll!

A Crafty Space

Hello friends

Well that was a nice Friday Die Day, you all seem to like the
Pierced dies - I think their simplicity is the key feature.
I can see them being very useful for lots of projects.

 

Today I'm featuring another crafty space.
This is where Diane Marsh crafts.

Diane has said....

as you can see there is very little unused space!

 I have taken three pics to try to give a 360 degree view.

 I am always re arranging my stash to try to squeeze in a bit more!"

 It is a fantastic space Diane, I keep going back to look at the photos again because

there is a lot to see - you really have utilised your space.

Loving the French doors opening out to your conservatory.
